where can I easily find strand based hair or variety of strand based hair

I used toulouse hair all the time in my tutorials to show people why it's important to use strand based hair to get fast animation while you're animating and then to render with the polyline hair… but I would like to have a variety I could choose from or at least even one more piece

  • I think you can render the daz store 'dForce SBH' as polyline (using iray curves) from 4.2 onwards, but i haven't tried it.  The documentation says to put tesselation sides down to 0.

For animation, you could always fit the hair, clothing, etc after you have animated.

(I do sell some normal SBH hairstyles on a certain gum-based road website, not sure there is much market for them though...)

Toulouse hair isn't strand-based; it's transmapped ribbon hair. If you're looking for more hair like Toulouse, look at almost any hair in the Daz store released before the advent of dForce hair. Most hairs in the store labeled dForce hair are strand-based and dynamic*, while Neftis makes a lot of static strand-based mesh hair and Toyen makes rigged hairs using the SBH system that are not intended to simulate.

*Linday cleverly labels their hair as "with dForce", since their hairs are mostly if not entirely transmapped ribbons with dForce cloth modifiers applied
