So is Darwin going to be the replacement of Carrara? Will Darwin be something like a super-duper DAZ 3D-program?
And the most important thing: Will all my bought Genesis 1 +2 figures be compatible?

Now my ears are pricking up .........
Came across the morph3d.com website by accident. Not pretending that I have read all the information there, but I have left with the impression that it will be more like ZBrush. Modelling with focus on Character Creation. But thats just me, knowing nothing about ZBrush. :-)
Some explanations from someone with DAZ in her/his name would be very nice.

interesting
nothing to to do with http://www.darwin3d.com
Never mind previous content of this post
Interesting indeed. From the front page:
It's come up in the forum before: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58351/morph-3d
It sounds kind of like Darwin may be more related to Hexagon than anything else. Maybe more tools for working specifically with games and other platforms.
Hopefully it will be something like Carrara, DS and iClone all in one. :) That'd be the perfect solution.
I just hope that we do not have to rebuy all the Genesis 1 and 2 stuff for compatibility.
A new paid for version of Daz perhaps?
An upgrade to Hexagon would be interesting.
Hopefully with particle effects, facial animations, backward compatibility, etc..
My money is on it being a character assembly/customization toolkit living inside Unity3D.
Oh and seems like they already have decided to go with brokered content, which just a few weeks ago they didn't talk about. So they want people to submit art through them to confirm quality and compatibility (sound familiar?).
Pretty obvious this is no Carrara, Hexagon or DS. This is for realtime applications and maybe only Unity.
Sounds to me that Darwin is just the Genesis system with a different name and Morph Lab is a stripped down Studio with only the character mixing components left plus a few new game optimizing tools added.
just daz, as cash backup with another name and site?
Seems like a legit effort to meet the needs of a different audience. It seems mildly ambitious in the least. I think it's more than a simple cash grab. I don't see the benefit for myself, but I can see how many Unity users will like it. Especially the LOD support and staying away for Daz Studio and the Game Dev licenses we have over here.
By having a different market, they can attact Game Dev talent to sell game assets, who will likely sell things far cheaper (license wise) than on the core Daz site. And because the assets are actually designed around working with Unity, it will be a big time savings for many people. And why pay for Daz content and daz specific features if you aren't going to use them. (for example Iray presets and stuff)
My understanding was that Morph3D was about making DAZ content game-engine compatible, and that Darwin seems to be for customizing that in-game content. I don't see that it has any immediate practical effect for DS users, tho', unless they're vendors marketing content for that niche.
Roughly speaking, Daz content is already compaitible. But Morph3D does make the content more friendly/optimized for Unity. Sounds like I am splitting hairs, but I think the distinction is import for some at least. Morph3D certainly will make it a lot easier than buying a vickie and clothes and adjusting it yourself.
One of the nice things the Morph3D package had was a nice doublesided shader. Those aren't super common (though very easy to make yourself) but very important to use Daz content because of how it is crafted.
