Long shot, try Google, vendor's name, Daz3D ...
Is the product installed in Daz Studio? If so you can put "key::VENDORNAME" in the Smart Content search box.
If you have the daz deals add on, you can go to the store and check "Only show owned" and then filter by vendor.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the part about it no longer being in the store.
''This is weird. Suddenly the forum software won't let me remove the quotes (iPad). Anyway I may be wrong but the I'm pretty sure the vendor names are in the metadata so even if you install differently, it still should be there.
Fixed quote - sometimes it has issues with single-paragraph quotes.
The products have to be installed with one of the automated methods to get the metadata loaded into the database. Even then, often the Author field is empty ("unavailable") or is simply "DAZ 3D". Sometimes the author field has a different name (or several) than the one in the store, or some cryptic code name. Maybe it has been better lately, but I think there will still be a lot of gaps in any search for a specific vendor.
Try looking here: https://posercontent.com/
Metadata can be imported through the Content DB Maintenance dialogue even for manually installed content, assuming their relative location is unchanged.
But, can it re-import something that was never installed in the first place? Or does the utility grab everything in the support folder, regardless? Just asking to clarify for others, I always install with DIM, so the metadata is there to begin with, but I also re-import, when needed, from DIM.
Seems like a drop-down window for search by vendor would be a no brainer feature for the Product library on the website, wouldn't it? On Renderosity you can seach that way but DAZ can't. I suspect that... and I'll stress that this is just a suposition for the rules lawyers out there.... the key difference ilies in how the two companies have traditionally handled purchased items that are no longer actively sold in the store, especially when the vendo no longer sell there. I can select just about any item in my Rendo library and not only see all the details, but I can look at the same main page that used to be in the store.
By contrast, DAZ has had minions running through the site with virtual erasers for many years, with the end result being that searching for an item that's no longer in the store not only takes you to a dead page, but it's often missing from the wiki as well, while many vendor names simply vanish. At least DAZ recently fixed the product library to the point that going to the item at least shows you an image of the item, though how representative of the item that image is and how up to date the details are may be dubious.
There are check boxes by each product in the import dialogue (as well as master checkboxes for vendor and user items as a whole).
Ah, yes, sorry, I should have been more precise. I am familiar with the list of checkboxes and all that about selecting the ones you want. What I meant was: would the list be populated with every metadata file in the support folder, regardless of whether it had been previously installed or not (automatically or manually copied)?
Yes, I suppose doing otherwise might have rather a high overhead.
Sometimes I use the store page and go to the vendor menu. I then uncheck the 'hide items I own' box. On the store page for the vendor, the items I own will have a little cloud icon for download. Does not filter out the unowned, but depending on how many products the vendor has can be a good option to identify what I own.EDIT: Never mind. I see the OP is interested in an item no longer for sale.
