AI and Daz

I have been using AI for a while, and i just wanted to get peoples feeling on this in relation to Daz Studio. It keeps crossing my mind if Daz can stay competertive due to the  incease usage of AI programs as more and more people become aware of their capabilities, I ask because I have looked at and tested and created the Images renders by the AI Software, and have found For what I use Daz Studio for I can render out an Image for a cheap price and some cases for free.

Although Daz has a fair price for its items, can one now use AI and replace Daz for a fraction of the cost of its they sell?, and was just wonder on others thoughts on this, and guess it demends on what your rendering, in most cases i would suspect a final renderd out falten 2d image..

There are a couple of threads here where people are discussing AI in various forms/usages. In my opinion, I guess there could be some affect on Daz's potential customer base due to people turning to AI rather than the Daz store to produce the images that they want.  However, this is only akin to all the other situations where something quick and easy but somewhat restricted has come into a space. Just like when take aways were invented - many people still cook at home. Just like when a public transit system is introduced - many people still walk, cycle or drive. Just like when Alcohol is sold in shops, some people still make their own. Clothing is also available in shops and yet people still knit & sew. Films and TV already exist but people still read books.

If AI can produce all the images you want to make then that's pretty cool for you. However, that will not be the case for everyone. I've not really messed around with the AI generators myself and while some AI-based images can look quite nice in a way, many that I have seen do have some awkward wonkiness, particularly around eyes and hands and other areas where the algorithm has misunderstood context, that I do not like. In addition, building my own scene and rendering it is an enjoyable act in and of itself - telling a bit of software to make me a thing would give me no pleasure at all and is unlikely to be as close to what I had wanted than I could do myself.

  • Yes I understand and agree with all the points you have made, and the AI programs are constantly updating quicly, I have also made and seen some images with some awkward wonkiness, but have maged to rectify them in Photoshop far quicker than may hours or days rendering time, I understand it depends on what you want, and I guess it how you see it, but for the cost of say a clothing set for a model female or make that can cost you dearly at times, the amount of images I can make in the AI sofwares for the price is incerible copared to paying Daz for one Suit and any extras and so on, its not a snipe at Daz or its pricing and guess I will still use daz in some cases to generate something i would need or want, but just getting the feel on how people think abount this issue, I also belive that if AI does stay around in its current format of usage seeing as some of them are getting sued by company's over copy write issues, if they come out winers, the AI will get smarter and better, and can only see companies like Daz, Artist and others suffering due to AI, although some might emrace it and use side by side, Thanks for the reply by the way, much appreciated.

    AI isn't AI.

I'm sure that eventually there will be more and more tools based on machine learning, but also others.

Concerning the text-to-image magic, it would not make sense to have it in DAZ in right now. It's just too risky, and curating a data set with consent of artists needs preparation, unless they had prepared that already behind the scenes, e.g. with artists from the store or maybe some cross-market alliance, what not.

Other than that, the impact will not only mean, that some customers of DAZ will buy less, because they are using an image generator, but might also mean that customers of customers of DAZ will use generators directly (to a larger number?), potentially.

Even worse, not only "the contract for an image" counts, but also monetization around images more generally, e.g. the impact of the net getting flooded with lookalikes, to the extent that artists get blocked because their work either looks like "from that artist" or because it "looks like generated with ai". This will not have an end, at least not a good one.

Concerning "replace" - replace the funcionality of DAZStudio simply not (yet, and likely not anytime soon/far), enhance maybe, "good enough" for all sorts of uses yes. Yes, there may be "ai"-based tools for each and every aspect, but putting them together like "text-to-image" doesn't work as simple - the generators are still imitators with a strong encyclopedic touch (not of the 20th century, do look ahead), by nature.
