I know it is possible to export a character from daz studio as a .fbx format that will contain skeleton/bone data and or animations. However, is it possible to export as .fbx from daz studio to a 3d package and pose the character, then once a pose is made in an external software reimport it and use that data in daz. I am asking this because I sometimes find it very tedious to pose characters in daz studio as opposted to using something like maya or blender. Posing in those softwares with their toolset just seems ten times faster to me.

You loose most surface data when you use FBX (or OBJ), so you do not want to import it again to DS, OBJ, FBX and so on are intended to export geometry, they don't handle surface data very well.
If you use Blender or Maya why not just export the DS stuff to Maya or Blender and do the final render there ?
Well you could get some practice posing in studio as it is well suited for that task. Not the best for animation, but for posing it's very good. If you want to do animations and prefer Maya or blender I would actually consider rendering in those tools. Would give you a ton more options in the long haul.
Most of the time when rigging and FBX is mentioned, it doesnt' work from Daz to other programs. Or vice versa.
I'm using .FBX to transfer motions between Studio, MotionBuilder and game engine back and forth. Works well for Genesis 2, but for Genesis 3 there are some difficulties preventing her use in my pipeline. I have filed the ticket about the problem but still there is no solution.
