Hi,

I have the HDRI which is used in this picture here:

But, my renders are no where similar to the sharpness and realism of this render. Can someone please help me in understanding the process of using the HDRI correctly?

Attached is my render:

  • The camera angle (Focal length) may be a factor, and I think you need to adjust Tone Mapping too ((using Redner Settings or a tonemapper Options node, which will not be available until after you do a render/PBR preview or Create>New Tonemapper Options).

  • This HDRI is available in several resolutions, up to 20k.

What resolution have you used ? If you want a sharp image, you must take the 16k or 20k version.

Ohh Okay, All my HDRIs are around 4K or 8K max. Then I will try with 20K and see.

Update: naah, no use. I think the original photo has been postworked in photoshop.

  • You should see a difference in sharpness.

Have you checked that the camera has depth of field disabled ?

It seems not HDRI resolution issue, you may change Pixel Filter in Render Settings to increase sharpness, by using mitchell with value 0.7, sharpen enough... Besides, set a lower value of Environment Intensity or Environment Map, the sky seems overexposure.
