New computer using old Daz library possible?

Hi, I just bought a new computer, but I'm moving my old hard drive where my daz library ( 880 GB ) is to that new computer. I was wondering if it's possible to map my old library in Daz studio in my new computer so I wouldn't have to re-download my entire library again and manually install everything else? Daz store stuff really isn't the problem, it's a lot of stuff to download but it's easy, just click the button in install manager. My main concern is that I have quite a lot of custom content from other shops and my own stuff too, which I've made smart content complient, and it has been a lot of manual work , so is it at least possible to export all that stuff in a zip file or something that I could install after I have redownloaded everything from Daz store?

DS doesn't care where your content is as long as you tell it where to find your content. Edit -> Preferences, Content tab, Content Library Manager, then either add the location of your old library to the list of Daz Studio Formats or replace the existing entries.

If you want to backup your modified metadata you need to go to the hamburger menu in Smart Content, click Content DB Maintenance, click the export option and accept. This will export all that into a UserData.dsx file that will be exported to the runtime/Support folder of your primary base folder.

Then you should be able to take that drive, pop it into the new computer and set the base folder which should mean that you can see all your installed products via the other content pane. In order to add the Smart Content to the new machine you would go into that Content DB Maintenance section again but this time pick "Process metadata queue" and "Re-import metadata". This will then give you a list of all your known products (that have been installed correctly) as well as the "UserData" from before sitting at the top. Everything should be checked by default so just hit accept and it will go through all those DSX file and re-add everything to the Smart Content on your new machine.

Depending on your hardware and number of products it may take a while. As a very rough guess based on your library size and the use of an internal HD it'd probably be no more than 6-8 mins.

Don't forget to also hook up the correct drive/folder target(s) in DIM on the new PC also.

Thanks guys, I think I got most of it working. I haven't checked everything, but looks like most of my stuff is ok. Plugins are still missing ( not even visible in the Help --> About installed plugins ) and install manager has no idea I already have all my stuff installed so I probably have some paths wrong there. Still studio itself seems to be working nicely, so after I got my plugins back and install manager to realize I already have all my stuff, then I'm good. For the longest time it feels like Daz Studio is actually working smooth so it was really nice to try test renders and stuff. Well, time to get some rest and hopefully I'll get plugins and IM figured out tomorrow

Ahh, yeah, plugins may need to be re-installed via DIM as I guess they have to put stuff into the application rather than the base folder.

For DIM you'll need to copy across the Manifest files if you have not done so already. Check the settings (Advanced Settings/Installation tab) on the old machine to find where they live and copy them across to where DIM on the new machine can see them. Once you have copied the files across I think clicking on the refresh button should sort it but if not then restart DIM.
