Strange Memory issue

So ever since I upgraded to ds 4.21, I am having an issue where a scene that renders perfectly fine using the video card will often switch to cpu, even though the memory would seem to be sufficient. And if I close the program and open it again, the scen will render fine. Wondering is there is any advice on what to do aside from closing and reopening the program. I am assuming that DS is somehow accumulating memory usage?

I've had this same thing recently when I think my scene was right on the cusp of filling the card's memory.
Every single time, in my situation, I've loaded something into the scene and deleted it, but the texture files were still present. Doing a Save fixed it and I was rendering with Cuda again.

Sometimes saving helps, usually I have restart the program. Good to know I am not alone though.
I even restart my computer sometimes. Free up whatever is chewying at my video memory
