dark areas when applying any anatomy addons, both genesis 8 and 9?

So when I load an anatomy addon,I always see dark areas where the addon is placed when the correct material is added to the addon mesh and I'm not sure how to resolve this?
I noticed that when the addons are placed on the model the existing polygons for the area of the figure the addon is replacing are not hidden or removed.
This results in the area having double the polygons which maybe causing the dark looking effect, is this normal?
I've tried both Genesis 8 and 9 and various addons, this mainly seen in iray.
Am I missing something
any help on this would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers

When you add a geograft in Daz Studio, the geograft should be set to hide the polygons it replaces.
If not there is an error in the setup. Although I have never seen that.
Is the geograft actually attached to the character? How are you loading it?
Give me a moment, I'll boot up and check
I think I may of resolved it.
I had the geometry tools window open when applying the addons to the main figure and I think that maybe the issue.
So I've just tried this with the tools window hidden on G9 and all seems fine, the polygons under the addon are now removed/hidden and no dark areas.
I not sure if this is coinidence, so I'll G8 as well.
Do you think this could be the issue?

Yes, geometry tools will cause all hidden mesh to be visible, so you can work on them.
Great News, Thank you for your time on this!
