Dforce Question

I have seen a number of video's on how to use dforce and was curious when it comes to adding dforce to an item in a particular way.
When it comes to something like a skirt, dress or coat that doesn't have dforce and I want to apply that to a section and not the whole item, is that possible. For instanace, on a skirt, the waist and hip area are to remain rigid, but from the top of the thigh down is to be dforced, basically the middle of the skirt instead of the whole skirt. Is this something that can be done.
I hope I explained myself clearly. I can try to do some images if that will help.

You could try weightmapping the areas you need to stay rigid.
dForce modifier is applied to a surface, and you can add a dForce weight map which will specify how much which parts of the surface are affected.
In your skirt example, you could have setup only the "skirt" surface as dynamic and either have a separate "belt" surface which is non-dynamic or use a weight map to paint part of the "skirt" as non-dynamic.
I just apply a Dforce modifier to the garment and turn the surface dynamic value to 0 on the parts I don't want dynamic
Sure, assuming the garment has such material zones, that's the way to go.
if it hasn't I create them with the geometry editor
I use the same method as Wendy and it works quite well. Sometimes the "seams" of the clothing come loose during simulation. If that is the case you could create a new material surface with the geometry editor of that part that comes loose and make that dynamic value very low or 0 too to prevent that from happening. The select loop option in the geometry editor is something I often use when I do this and can save a lot of time, same for the grow selection option.
Thanks a lot for the help guys, will give the idea's a go and see how it works.
