Mesh Grabber Install issue

Hi team, I have just purchased the Mesh Grabber bundle and installed via Daz Central. 1. It says Select Daz Studio version - only one available is 4.5 (I have 4.12} 2. Pursued anyway by Selecting Path - My DAZ 3D Library (IS this correct?)

Having completed this nothing shows up in Tools menu or Plug ins section.

Searched relentlessly through the forums. Lots about dlls, folder, plug in thingys and wotnots. Most advice was to install vis DIM. So uninstalled and tried through DIM but get lots of things to choose (Pics attached) Deleted from DIM

Went back to DAZ Central but faced witht the select this and that issues (Pics attached (I hope)

This is an edited version of what I have gone through as I am very tired now.

Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong? It cannot be this difficult

thank you

  • How did you install Daz Studio? if you did it using a stand-alone installer then the installation application won't know about it and will have to ask.

  • Hi Richard, I honestly can't remember how I installed it, long time ago, all I know is the path MAC SSD/Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library. So that's the path I chose when asked, is there another path?

Everything I've ever bought I install through Daz Central, is this different?

  • That is the content path, not the application path. You are looking for the Daz studio.app file, if this is a Mac.

  • Is it the one in the pic Richard, is that where i install it? There is a Plug ins folder in there

  • Yes, the DazStudio4 folder is the one you want.

  • Hmm, still no luck Richard but I suspect I'm still installing in the wrong place. I put them in the Plug ins folder in DS4 and I can see them but still not showing up in Daz Studio.

Not to worry tonight, its getting late where I am, I'll pick it up again in the morning and try installing in different locations.

    Many thanks

Just dump dylib files into plugins folder but not the whole directories ~ Restart Daz Studio, Mesh Grabber will be under Menu - Tools... You may put it on the toolbar. It'll be much easier for using ~

BTW, suggest use DIM other than DC, lots of problems there. Check or configure the path of Daz Studio application in Advanced Settings - Applications first, then all the plugins will be installed to the designated folder.

  • Hi crosswind, yes, right, okay, thank you for the response.

Now, did a search for dylib files and found them already in a plugins folder (Pic attached) Do I need to move them somewhere else?

It seems not correct from the screenshot you attached ~ Your directory looks strange... surprise Pls check the pic as below:

  • Hi crosswind, I carried out instructions but still no luck. However, it prompted me to investigate further and I discovered that I was installing the Plug ins to an older version of DS! I always keep older versions when I update DS as a not-really-sure-why but following advice.

So, in future I must make sure I am selecting the current version of my DS!

Now all I need to do is learn how to use it!

Again, thank you for everyone's help and patience

  • Plug-ins can go in subfolders of the Plugins folder.
