L.O.D (Level of Detail).
Hi,
Does anyone know of anything (possibly a script) that can be used for swapping out objects based on distance (as example) from a camera?.
I am refering to what was in DS 3, not adding/removing sub_d levels.

LoD iss till there as a feature, but it isn't saved to .duf files so you would want to automate some way of seting it up on each load (if scripting can do that, but I thought it hada ccess to thsoe featrues). Using a PostLoad script might work http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/start#elements
Not in an automatic fashion as fas as I know, however if you can afford the time to do it manually you can probably acheive this for a scene using a mixture of the following:
If I was going to attempt scripting on this, I would probably be looking at "DzMRMMesh"(if that is still available in latest scripting), which can contain multiple facet sets (objects/mesh).
However, beyond showing it is availble (Daz script development kit 3), I have not yet found anything that shows how it is set up.
Out of those, I think "scene Optimizer" would be the only possible option. But it would still need a lot of manually selections (to hide/show mesh).
It would be interesting to know why they removed (auto by distance) LOD that was in DS3.
Ahh, well DS3 was before my time so I was only thinking in terms of general optimisations for things further away.
Hopefully DS5 will have something that can do this automatically.
