This is very sad. Watching the siren Raquel in Richard Lester's Musketeer movies is one of the fondest memories I have of my mid teens.

    Alex.

  • Yes, she was a looker, but I was on three when Fantastic Voyage came out.

My parents, sister, and I were in the crowd scene in Kansas City Bomber when she filmed that here in Portland. Just sitting in the crowd during the skating scenes, but it was fun.

  • does anyone have a 3D model of Raquel? I'd love to import the OBJ file and do something artsy with it. Dogwaffle now loads OBJ.

I met a classmate of Raquel once, and my parents lived in the house next to hers in La Jolla a few weeks after she had moved to Hollywood in 1956.

  • Men of a certain age like me, had that 1,000,000 BC poster on their bedroom wall when we were boys. cheeky

Raquel Welch had some fun 70s skits with Cher.  One example playing herself.  RIP, and thanks for all the great performances.

I haven't seen that Cher LaVerne character since I was little. My favorite from that show by far. Seeing it again now makes me wonder if Penny Marshall got some of her inspiration for her Laverne character from that Laverne character.
