I think I am trained to look at certain parts of the body, well you might know where.

Guys your thoughts?

The moustache and the fuzzy beard are not to my taste, but fortunately they can be removed. Otherwise, I like Jack very much - like almost everything Morris creates.

But now it's about time for a dark-skinned male 9 character - Darius 9 or something...

There have been several released already, check the store.

I like the face but the proportions are not for me. Yes I know I tweak them.

  • My question is... can you turn off the extremely creepy and overdone vascularity? He looks like he has worms under his skin.

Love the face and figure, but yes, worms! Concrete worms under the skin.

Is there anyway to play down the sandpaper looking skin texture of these G9 figures?

My main problems with him are the wrinkles under the pecs (seemingly impossible to erase for many PAs) and the 'moat' around the six packs (sorry for my choice of words lol. I know there are abs like that but Jack's shape is just too uniform)

is it possible to reduce the "moat" to more flat?

Depends how the detail is done. If it's sculpted HD detail, reducing that slider will smooth the vascularity out. If it's done with a normal map, reducing its strength may work.

Yeah, there's an odd indented line there that runs parallel to the one that defines the lower breast area.

Maybe there will be a Genesis 9.1 in a few years with different geometry and UV mapping to split male and female upper torsos.

The next version will probably be released about the same time with DS5

Then I think the entire body morph has to be dialed down which I think is not a bad idea especially if the veins are part of the body morph

I think it's done well except for:

    1) The cleft chin is too strong. I know Madison Avenue & Hollywood use makeup and lighting to exaggerate them, on guys in particular,  but the DAZ Store has overly strong cleft chins in abundance. However, I really can't say it's wrong as they do exist in real life and probably can be dialed out to a degree if one has the Genesis 9 Head morphs anyway.

    2) Look at the abs, they are lean, muscularly regularly worked out and developed, and totally flexed in those renders. Now look at the line of the bottom of the rib cage and you can see the abdomen is being pulled in in those renders. The poses are otherwise totally relaxed and the juxtaposition between the two creates a Uncanny Valley disconnect.

The viens are on the HD normal map and honestly, unless you render at really high subd levels, they are not that pronounced depending on the light. I needed a male figure for a project so went ahead and picked him up to support G9 and the PAs. Here is a quick render at subD 3 with the body muscular details at 95%. He works fine for my needs and I like the face and skin

Not possible as a dot release, except perhaps with GeoGrafts - a new geometry would break compatibility with 9.
