UltraSceneryXT extract a plant

I own UltraSceneryXT and quite a few of the biome and material addons

How do I extract a particular plant to use in a non- UltraSceneryXT scene?

Comments

  • Make sure it is the original, not an instance, and use File>Save As>Scene Subset.

  • thanks, I am still missing something:

I start a new UltraSceneryXT project, selecting a preset, one of the topicals

As it is rendering, there is an expand arrow next to the UltraSceneryXT object

If I stop the rendering, or let it finish, the expand arrow disappears

If I do File>Save As>Scene Subset I only see the UltraSceneryXT object, no items below it

  • The hidden items are mostly instances anyway, I think.

All items are hidden, the only thing that show is the land object, it seems like everything else is created at render time and them evaporates

I have another product, country ford, that is made with instances as you describe, so I understand that

    This is not like that

  • The sub item arrow shows up as an image is rendering, when the rendering stops the arrow is gone

Which plant(s) are you trying to extract? The USCXT product itself and the Tropics add-ons have the individual plants as Props (look in Smart Content for the product name and expand it to see the Props) Note that they are very low-resolution as they are intended to be seen from a distance.

  • Thanks, that is what I was looking for, I guess I missed it because I thought the only way you could add features was through the dialog box

I need to use it some more and see how it goes

You don't need to extract the plants, as you have seen now.

The  biome and water node are hidden by default. If you need to access them in the Scene pane for some reason, you can Show Hidden Nodes.

(This info was posted in this thread in March 2022) You can go back and read it for context, if you wish.

    Just an FYI,

I figured out what the problem was, seems script based products don’t work correctly unless all parts are installed to the same folder, must be using relative rather than full file names

I uninstalled everything having to do with Ultra Scenery and XT and reinstalled and now it works fine

That depends on how the script is written - in principle it is possible to do it in a way that will work via Connect, but that is often very difficult to test/develop as it requires having the products already set up with the Daz-generated metadata.
