[Released] Alien Hunter Shuriken [Commercial]
Alien Hunter Shuriken Weapon (CGI)
This model is inspired by a design from a certain Sci-Fi Horror/Action movie franchise, the Alien Hunter's Shuriken weapon has had several variations on this design in subsequent movies, but this design is based on that which appeared in the first movie featuring this weapon, and I've based this model primarily on that design. There are two versions of the weapon on display here, the deployed weapon with the blades ready for action, and a closed version with the blades folded up within the central disc of the weapon. These parts bare little resemblance to the deployed blades, they just seem to magically unfurl and extend, hence the two separate models. This version is designed to be a 3D printed kit that will result in a one to one scale replica of the screen used weapon. I'm also working on a less high poly CGI version for use within Daz 3D. This will be my first model designed specifically for 3D Printing, and the test prints that are coming out are already looking very cool. Exciting times ahead.
Please enjoy the work in progress images to follow, and keep your eyes peeled for this model's imminent release in the not too distant future. I'm not yet sure which version will be released first, but I'll obviously keep you posted. Also included towards the end are images of the first test prints of some of the first parts to roll off the 3D Printer. Many thanks to my partner in this project for providing these prints. I'm very excited to see how this all comes together.
(This release currently just includes the CGI version for now. The 3D printable version of this asset will be made available at a later date)

So this is a real world object?
Not something that can be used in Daz studio?
Hi there Myotherworld, as the title above states, this asset will be available both as a real world one to one scale 3D printable object, and as a purely CG creation. The needs for both are slightly different, so they will be available as two separate assets, one optimised for use within Daz 3D, and the other with a dense enough high poly mesh to ensure a nice and smooth real world prop.
cool
Just a quick update on this, here's how the CGI version is coming along, texturing has begun, so this one will be done and dusted soon. So then the CGI Daz3D ready version, will be ready to go.
Fantastic! I want both!!!
A little more progress on this, done with this colour scheme, and the more distinct silver and copper version, which was a doddle compared to the first subtler one, so you'll have two colour schemes to choose from. Next up the deployed blade version. Not long now.
Also as a little bonus, the last image is of the closed version prototype 3D printed and painted.
Just a quick update on the Alien Hunter Shuriken asset progress. This is pretty much done now. The open deployed blade version has been textured now, and we should be looking at getting this into DAZ for testing soon. So just as a reminder, with this asset you'll essentially be getting four versions, the closed and deployed version of the weapon in both colour schemes.
Now for the eye candy, here are a couple of shots of the deployed version of the asset now it has been textured.
Thanks for looking.
The Alien Hunter Shuriken developed for 3D printing as a 1 to 1 scale prop. Now the CGI version is nearing completion, and I am excited to be able to bring you these new shots, these being the first renders of the closed version of the asset from the Daz 3D Engine.
Enjoy.
Hi there, nearing the end of the road now. Here are a couple more promotional renders of this asset to whet your appetite, including different colour schemes, and blade deployed configurations, as well as the introduction of a character into these renders so you can see how the asset looks in hand, well, a virtual hand in this case.
Just another quick update on this product. Currently going through testing, and looking all good now, so the release of this asset should be pretty imminent, so keep your eyes peeled if you've been waiting eagerly for this to come out.
[UPDATE:]
Product has now cleared testing, and is in the hands of Marketing, so just waiting on a release date for this product now. Thanks everyone for your patience.
Not long now.
Okay, we now have an official release date for this asset, and that date is...
29th of November.
So keep your eyes peeled for this release. Just days away now.
...and gone already?
Yeah, been wondering the same thing...
Afraid there were issues with the release. If there is still interest in the product, I'll see what I can do.
