what's causing the tear mesh to not follow a loaded morph?

What I did:

  1. export figure as obj
  2. modeled eye shape
  3. exported to obj
  4. morph loader pro, reverse deformations=yes
  5. dialed in the new morph
  6. profit

except now the eyelashes and the tears are off. all I did was set them invisible before exporting. the morph has no other changes, just a little geometry editing around the eyes.

after some tooling around, I "solved" this but it is not making much sense.

    1. unparent the tear from base figure, set fit to 'none'
    2. edit the base figure morph dial and enable autofollow
    3. refit the tear to base figure
    4. check the applied morph on the base figure is now 100%
    5. dial back the value to 0 for the implied autofollow dial on the tear, NOT the original morph dial

I'm glad it works but why?
