Hello, a newbie question here, I was wondering if there is a build-in option to change the transparency of a model/character or does this have to be done externally?
Thank you in advance.

With the Surface selection tool, select the surface(s) in question, then in the Surfaces pane, set the "Opacity strength" parameter's thumbnail to the black/white/greyscale image you want to use to specify which parts are transparent (or if you don't want to use an image and just want the entire surface evenly transparent, just adjust the slider to your liking.)
Black is completely transparent. White is completely solid. greyscales are inbetween depending on how light or dark they are. Of course, the image has to match, if you don't have a texture template to start from you'll have to get creative with Photoshop using the diffuse image or something as a starting point to figure out where the edges of the object are.
