How can I convert conforming clothes to dynamic clothes ?
hi
I download some clothes from Daz shop ...
https://www.daz3d.com/leather-jacket-for-genesis
and I tried to Make it dynamic clothes But it did not work
Is there any way to convert conforming clothes or prop to dynamic clothes Inside daz studio ?
and Thank you so much ^_^
Comments
No, there is not.
The only clothes that can be used as dynamic clothes are those that have been made to be dynamic using the Optiex program. So any DS dynamice clothing is that showing Optitex as one of the vendors in the Daz 3d store, and the freebies that are the Optitex site http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload01.php
Edited to add that any products which say that they are dynmaic but don't show Optitex as a vendor will be for Poser. There are also a few items which were originally made for DS, but have had a poser version made as well, so you need to be careful which you download.
so there is no way to convert inside Daz
But what if I made cloth in zbrush Or another design program .... Can I move it to Optitex program To make it dynamic ? Then export and move it to daz
Do you have access to the Optitex program? Even then, i don't know if it can be done
The Optitex program is a commercial fashion design software program, which costs several thousand dollars, And then you have to learn it. I gather that with the training you are talking somewhere around $16,000 altogether
No ... This is the first time I hear about it
Well ... I do not think that the use of this program is a good idea
i must return to poser To do the dynamic poses Then export to daz ^_^ ( I use poser from a long time)
Thank you guys very much for helping me
Sorry, but I'm gonna chime in here in case anyone else stumbles on the thread. Optitex is not necessary to create dynamic clothing. The problem with converting existing clothing to dynamic is that most items have seams, double sides and other items, such as buttons and whatnot that cause problems. You can, in some cases, export a clothing item from Poser or DAZ as an object file. Take it into UVMapper, a freeware program, and then use the TOOLS option to weld all parts. This does not always work. It's about 50/50. When you import back into the posing program, it's a static prop now and you can set it to work as a dynamic mesh. But in some cases, those seams will still melt apart. Running them through various programs will sometimes help. I've secured a good weld a few times in Zbrush. But the whole issue is welding the seams and it's very difficult. Some clothes just don't cooperate.
I use Blender for that, and you're right: it is a chore!
The process isn't particularly difficult, but it is tedious in the extreme, and usually requires several iterations to get them all. (And the only way to know that you haven't gotten them all is to import the .obj into your 3-D application, and try running a simulation -- only to watch it come apart and end up in pieces on the ground plane!)
There is another alternative, however: take a look at iClone. It has features that can animate clothing and hair, do collisions, and all sorts of cool stuff. It can also import (through 3DXchange) DAZ assets. There is a bit of a learning curve involved, and the program ain't cheap -- well, that's kind of subjective, really; by itself, it's right at $200 retail, but once you start adding in the "extras", you can bring it up to close to a grand. I got my copy from the DAZ store, but I don't see it listed anymore.
This past March iClone 5 Basic was given a way free by the RealAllusion business - you make want to search for that post in these forums and see if it's still available free. The current version is 6.x though and I don't know if the basic iClone 5 version can do all that Ken OBanion speaks of.
I'm using Optitex 19.5 for making cloths, yet I want to make a virtual fashionshow.
Í"m trying to import garments that are made in Optitex in Daz3D12.1 but the scale is way of.
I imported it as an OBJ file. I"m also able to import a garement as a FBX file.
can anyone explane the workflow for me please?
It has to fit on a G8F.
The OBJ importer (and exporter) have scale and axis settings, with named presets for different applications. Which are you using? If you modelled around an exported figure did you make sure that the same preset was used in both directions? FBX should not have these issues, but the process could still be thrown out if the model you are using to fit around was exported to OBJ with an unsuitable scale.
