Why is the reflexion bigger?

Hi All

I posted an image some time back and one of the things that bugged me, was that the reflexion of the motorcycle was bigger than it should have been?

As I plan on doing more city type renders, with big windows. i dont want this to happen again.

So anyone know why and more to the point how I can stop this.

i have lookied in the material setting . But for the life of me cannot see anything that would do this.

As always any help is always welcome.

hope your having a good weekend

the actual shape of the glass (reflective surface)  can affect the reflection.

A reflective surface in Iray should act similar to a reflective surface in real life.

You need to add some images of what you are seeing.

That looks like you have used an orthogonal camera.

Do you have that scene, and if what is your camara settings?

  • Thanks. I will have a look

Pay close attention to the section headed "Perspective Compression".

  • Thank you for the link, a very interesting read.

If the window is flat but connected by polys to something else (depending on shape) AND the surface setting is set to 'smooth: ON' then it'll act like it's curved rather than flat.

Try it with plane versus a cube.

Often for this kind of surface, where it's a single flat poly, you should turn smoothing off in Surfaces to get a non-distorted reflection.
