Dynamic clothing not working correctly in Daz 4.8

After switching toi Daz 4.8 a few months ago, I just realized all dynamic clothing no longer seems to have a "Fit To" option to fit it to a character. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a new plugin that's required?

Thanks

Do you have the paid-for dynamic clothing control plugin, or only the basic one included in DS? If you have the separate plugin I would suggest redownloading and reinstalling it.

  • I do have the paid lugin and whedn I check the plugins panel both basic and control are active. I discovered the rig scope under the top level garment scope does have the Fit to option but when I fit it to the character no change and it does not fit to the characters pose or follow the characters root transforms either. In the download manager I see no option for an update or download of the 64 bit dynamic clothing control plugin.

I wish Daz would upgrade their dynamic cloth and hair options. This is really sad stuff in the current market.

Some clothes don't have a fit to. I find that functionality good at times, and at others, annoying.

  • I'm talking about behavior that has changed on existing dynamic models. I used to be able to fit them to a character so they would be roughly posed and scaled to the character - then I would sim them. Now that doesn't work.

  • The Dynamics plugin has always been one of the awkward ones — it must always be updated when the D|S program is updated, so the last two figures of the plugin version must always match the last two figures of the D|S version. (E.g. for D|S 4.8.0.55 you must be using the Dynamics 1.5.0.55 plugin.) Which version of D|S 4.8 and which version of the plugin do you have installed? If they're different, it will cause Weird Stuff™ to happen.

The DIM is supposed to always install the proper version of plugins, but I've never been convinced it knows the difference between "the most up-to-date current version" of a plugin and "the version that matches the D|S version".

  • I wil double check - but why does the 64-bit version of the plugin not show up in DIM? Is there a place to download it directly?

  • You can always manually download anything you've bought in the store from your Product Library page — just enter "dynamic clothing" into the filter box, click on the product name that shows up, and scroll down to see the downloadable installers.

Note, though, that this will always show the current version; whenever there's an update, it automatically replaces and deletes the previous version from the DAZ servers. Before you click, hover your mouse over the download buttons and the status line of your browser will show the version number of the plugin you're about to download. The blue buttons download the installer for you to run it manually, the green buttons download the installer and start DIM so it does the installation automatically.

Also, make sure you're clicking on the right button, there are Windows and Mac versions, and 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Read the File Name column carefully.

  • THanks a lot. I will try this.

Still there for me under the Parameters tab and I only have the basic system that comes with DS.

  • After going to the product page I tried to download and install the plugin via DIM. Although DIM was launched nothing was installed. SO I did the maual download and ran the installer. Bringing up Daz then showed just the Basic plugin of the lates version - and Fit To was back - but the Advanced Control plugin is now missing and I don't have the ability to edit individaul panel parameters etc.

There really is nothing about Daz's cloth system that jacking it up and running a new one under it wouldn't fix. I may just start exporting obj's to maya and trying to sim there.

    Then it's not properly installed.

You are looking in Help>About Installed Plug-ins, not Window>Panes(Tabs)? If you go to your application folder and look in the plugins folder (C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins for Windows) do you have dzoptitexclothbasic or dzoptitexclothcontrol files? What file type do they show if so?
