Using Canvases for big renders....question

Hi, I have a large scene I would like to render using my 3080 ti and canvases. Currently the scene defaults to using cpu because of the amount of stuff in the scene etc. I have the canvases all setup to render out single objects etc. If I were to render out single objects this way will iray still calculate everything in the scene and default to cpu or will it allow me to save vram and use my gpu for?

Good day ... best way to know is to try it.

Having said that, there is usually a default beauty pass (everything in the scene) plus the layers you create. My guess is (and I have not tried this) try deleting that beauty pass and only have a single layer to render [don't forget to include your lighting].  Yes, that means lots of separate layers rendering separatly.... but to save Vram it might have to be done.  With a beauty pass and/or multiple layers involved in a single render it would likely calculate everything. I repeat, this is just a guess.

Please, let us know what happens ... this would be useful information to those of us who occasionally use Canvases.
