Quirky DAZ Studio 4.8 questions... "headlamp" and Content Library...

I've been using Poser for over 10 years, but now I feel like I have to switch to Daz Studio because Poser content has all of a sudden gotten zero support on sites like Renderosity and RuntimeDNA. The switch is progressing very slowly...
My Googlefu and ForumFu is failing me. Two weird questions:
1) How do I turn off the "headlamp"? When I'm in the viewport, I can't tell what any of my lights are doing because they're all washed out by the "headlamp". I found a Youtub tutorial that makes reference to the "headlamp" which is why I know what it's called (if I'm even right about that), and I found a site discussing why you shouldn't turn it off. But I can't find out how to turn it off or get any kind of accurate approximation of my lighting setups.
2) How do you make parameter dials and content library icons display in a larger size? I am using 23" monitors and they display so small, I can barely read them. In Poser this is done very easily right in the library window, but I can't figure out how to do it in Studio.
Thanks for your help.

The headlamp will go if you load a real light (but not a mesh light made with a surface shader). If you are using a camera you can turn the headlamp off in Parameters with it selected; if you are using the Perspective View (which, like the Poser Posing Camera, is not saved or tracked for undo so should generally not be used for final renders) there is an option in Render Settings. Also, make sure it is the headlamp doing the washing out - if you are using the defaults your renderer will be Iray and it will be using an HDR environment map that will swamp local lights.
Are you viewing the content library as a grid of items or as a list of titles? If the latter, use the button above the files just on the right to switch to the grid (like the Poser library layout) but that is the default, and if so that's what you have thayt is the size of the thumbnails I'm afraid.
There's a Headlamp attached to every camera in your scene. In the Scene tab, select the camera you're looking through, then in the Parameters tab, click on the Headlamp section at the bottom of the list. Now you'll see the headlamp control at the top of the controls section, switch it from Auto to Off.
Remember, if you have more than one camera in the scene, and you switch to another camera, that will have a Headlamp as well, and it will still be set to Auto unless you switch it off.
Thank you for the tips! Very helpful!
Interesting that you say that, i've only recently joined the 3D community but have been following the Daz Vs Poser thing quite closely. I was quite interested to see what would the new Poser that was released bring to the overall content release in various online 3D market places. Daz seems to be still high on the radar because they release so much content on themselves which some are really great productsif not most of them.
What mainly is in Daz's favor, their Studio product is free. This essentially grabs a good amount of new users to the community because not everyone has cash to throw around immediately. This causes a good amount of the products being released everyhere with Daz support. Especially many even bring out different texture packs and stuff for a good amount of the Daz content that gets released on this site. They provide a nice amount of documentation sometimes and almost always the template files for modification.
I have respect for Daz that the Daz Originals author products actually has the Poser support files to just be in general a good products for a wide variety of 3D community. Still have yet to ever look into Poser again since I last did in 2002. Which was most of my 3D scene render experience up until end of last year I picked up Daz studio just for a quick pose draw. I ended up doing quite a few complex 3D renders as I got use to it. I've been rather spending money on some good deal 3D products around to use in Daz so didn't really have any spare money to spend on the new Poser... a bit too expensive for me.
