How to change Daz Studio location

Due to me being an idiot, I somehow managed to install Daz Studio to the wrong location on my nice shiny new SSD drive.

I thought it would be an easy fix, as all I would need to do is to change its path on the Install manager.

So...........I go to advanced settings and tell it to install Studio to a particular directory and also delete the origional path. Trouble is that despite doing this the DLM always reverts to the old unwanted path???

I have unistalled both Studio and the DLM, but it still defaults the Studio location to where I dont want it

Any ideas what I am doing wrong??

Which path did you change? You want the software base path in the Instalaltion tab, you can't change the sub-folders used within that. the Applications tab is to tell Install Manager where the applications are, for installing plug-ins, not for setting the install location.

  • Hi Richard

I somehow managed to bury the Studio program deep in the install manager directory!

I want it on the same drive, but in a different location.

DLM just always defaults to the origional location where I installed it in the first place, in error.

Is there a way that I can move the studio main program?

Please post a screenshot of the Installation tab of Advanced settings.

  • I delete the longer path and then tell DLM to install to D:/Daz Studio folder I made, but it allways defaults back to the longer install path.

And what does the Instalaltion tab show? That is the expcetd outcomen if the path for 64 bit applications is D:/DLM Files/Applications/64-bit/

  • Thereby lies the problem.

If I delete that path and use the D:/Daz Studio path, when Daz is installed again it defaults to D:/DLM Files?Applications?64-bit?, even though I told it not to!

Delete which path? The Applications tab is a report, saying where the DIM-installed applications are, or the chnace to report, telling it where third-party applications are. It cotnrols the instalaltion of add-ons that go to the application path, it does not control the isntall location used by DIM for applications - that is the path set in the Installation tab.

  • Thanks Richard

As soon as I read your reply I realised what I had done wrong.

Did I tell you that its my turn to be villiage idiot this week!!??
