Bringing fibermesh hair in from Zbrush

I have been playing with the demo of Zbrush, and trying to bring in some simple fibermesh hair via Goz, to then render in Octane.
Once I get it back into Daz the hair doesn't appear to have anything to apply shaders to (sorry, I am sure there is a more technical way of putting that - the best way I can describe it is the hair object has no surface). The only way I have been able to apply a shader to the fibermesh is to use the Transfer Utility within Daz, setting the hair as source and target and selecting 'surface groups' under advanced. After an age (and occiasional crash) the hair reappears and this time has a surface that I can apply a shader to.
I am sure this is not the best way to do it, and I have spent countless hours searching and playing to get this far. What am I missing and is there something I can do within Zbrush to add the surface before exporting.
Many thanks

Try looking in the Surfaces pane with the hair object selected (which may be easier in the Scene pane rather than clicking in the viewport) - does it have a surface listed?
Thanks Richard - see attached images. The surface tab in Daz appears to show a surface, albeit without a name. Within Octane, there is nothing other than the object name. I cannot apply a shader in either Daz or Octane,
Try using the Geometry Edit tool to give it a name - I think you should be able to justs witch to the tool with the item selected, then edit the name for the only surface in the Tool Settings pane by clicking it twice. ZBrush can do odd things over naming, but it may be worth reporting this as a bug in case it's on the Daz end or something Daz can work around.
