Getting Organized - Splitting Up Wearables Folder.

jukingeojukingeo Posts: 711

Hello All,

I am starting to have an issue with my Wearables folder.   Nothing wrong with Daz mind you, but the folder is just getting too darn big.   I don't want to sit there and drill down through every single item to find something I like for a new character I created.   What I would like to do is to break the folder down into categories primarily based on style.   I would like to batch all the medieval looking outfits in one folder, the contemporary items in another, the steampunk / Victorian era items in another, the Sci-Fi outfits in another...etc.     I would like to know the proper way to do this without messing things up, if that is possible.

Thank you.

    How about https://www.daz3d.com/smart-collections?

Hmmm, I was hoping for a solution that I didn't have to buy.

    Thanx anyway.

If you don't use smart content, you can move everything around as you see fit, just leave the data and runtime folders alone.

The only issue is that some items have djl (or something like that) files; these are link files that you need to replace with the duf files they point to. They're not common luckily, they're usually found with Zeddicus & AprilYSH items.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I DO use Smart Content.

I just change the categories of items.

    • In smart content > files, right click the item and choose categorize
    • Go down to wardrobe, and right click
    • Create sub-category
    • You can then add the item to multiple categories, (i.e. footwear + boots + high heels) or sort by style + item, whatever works best for you.

It takes some time to set up, but it's totally worth it.

You can also, alternatively, add tags where you can 'group asset as', but that requires a little more work in that you have to create an image file.

    • Under Program Files > Daz3d > DazStudio4 > resources > images > groups there's two folders (assets, products)
    • You can create new banner styles 100x100 (you'll have to do so outside of the folders and then move them in with administrator access since it's a locked folder). So mine are:
      • 1.ignore.png
      • 2.okay.png
      • 3.good.png
      • 4.great.png
      • 5.fave.png
      • 6.mine.png
    • The higher the number, the higher it'll sort on your list.
    • Make sure the assets and products have the same files because they're interdependent on each other, but after you do that, you'll be able to right click > group asset as fave or whatever you choose.

    Hope this helps :)
