Which version of Studio to recommend?

I ran 4.16 on my old PC, no I'll upgrade to a new one.
Should I stick with 4.16 or switch to the actual version? (4.21 or so?, which beside added vdb, slower render times and [...] altered ghost lights seems not have any advantages at the first glance?)
Thanks

You could have both if you install the latest beta (assuming your 4.16 is the general release). That way you can see if it works well on your system without losing your current version.
Thanks. I'll try the actual version.
Remember to BACKUP both install files, as Daz does not provide previous ones!
There's plenty of assets reported to don't work in 4.21 because the PA didn't update to the new iray. Basically you will need 4.16 for G2 G3 G8 and 4.21 for G9.
What issues, aside from ghost light-type of functionality and the hcnages to top-coat, are you running into? I am not aware of any general issues with older versions of Genesis in the latest versions of DS.
Same question.. haven't seen big issues from pre-G9 figures and other assets with latest GR/PB versions, except for ghost light / Emmission, while I just use new ghost light scripts other than those 'old ghost light products'..
It's not only ghost lights but everything that deals with emisison plus other material attributes as thin walled iirc. Some custom shaders are also reported to don't work. But yes, if you are an advanced user aware of the issues and are willing and able to fix the materials yourself then 4.21 is good as well.
