Look At My Hair, black viewport problem.

I'm using Look At My Hair plugin for DAZ, and I seem to have a problem with loading preset animals using the product. In this particular case, I'm using Arctic Fox and Red Fox.

When clicking on the preset icon it atemps to load the figure with the hair, but then crashes. Other times it loads fine, but I get a blank black viewport screen. The buttons for perspective and view type are physically there, just not visable. Everything is black. If I switch to my Aux Viewport, or switch to split screen, I can see the animal figure with the hair and can render.

What is going on? Why is the initial viewport going blank? Why is it sometimes crashing?

  • MaxHancock I'm getting a very similar problem as you, but I suspect the reason has nothing to do with LAMH.  I have the exact same black screen, but usually it only happens when I add more than one complicated character to a scene (for example two Victoria 7s, it sometimes hangs up upon loading the second figure, or shortly after) or if I merge scenes.

I have no idea why this happens, as it only recently started happening on my laptop within the last month or so.  I simply cannot believe it has to do with inadequate computer hardware, since I know I've loaded many more characters than that in the past.

You might try rolling Daz back to a previous version, I suspect it's a bug that was introduced in a recent update.  Though I don't know what, you're the only other person I've found with this similar problem.  Currently for me Aux Viewport does the same thing as my main viewport.

  • Are you using the Free Player or the Full version?  There is no reason LAMH would make your viewport go "black" as that is controlled by DS.  Are you using an OBJ, LAMH FiberHair, or Renderman preset?
