Posing Elf Reins for Daz Horse 3

I don't know if I'm missing something, but as soon as I pose the horse's head to the side, the reins in this product https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-elf-style-outfit-for-daz-horse-3 become completely usedless due to the limited poseability. Anyone have success making useable rein poses with this set?

    I'm just trying to get the reins in an appropriate starting pose. As soon as I turn the horse head to the side, the reins poke through the neck and off to the opposite side, with no way to move them to the rider's hands. Don't even get me started on what happens to the reins when I run Dforce. Starting to think I'll return all of the horse stuff and just have the characters walking. After searching for solutions, in almost every image I've seen today, with multiple products, the reins look bad unless the horse is standing still and looking forward.
