Is there a way to set the hdri so it will not change any render settings?

 as far as I can tell.....

1-one set I have changes no settings

2-another changes only settings in tone mapping

3-another changes all the render settings back to the default

 

is there a way to make it any hdri will act like number 1 and change no render settings at all?

Save a Render Setings preset and uncheck everything but the map in the options dialogue. Also, though I can't recall which options you will get, holding down the ctrl key (cmd for a Mac) when loading a preset will usually give a dialogue that lets you make choices relating to the preset.

I just made render presets for all my polyhaven HDRIs. Time consuming to set up but ultimately such a time saver compared to going into my folders to load a new HDRI each time.

I realise you can drag and drop them into the environment map slot but thats not much faster.
