Moons and Quasi-Moon

Moons and Quasi-Moon I didn't know Earth had a second Moon. So I was shocked we had a second one which is a Quasi-Moon. It's been orbiting since 100 BC.

If they can miss an almost moon-sized asteroid for thousands of years, what's next?

New 'quasi-moon' discovered near Earth has been travelling alongside our planet since 100 BC | Live Science

A little humor there. My good forum member. I just thought that calling it a Qusia-Moon was funny just because of its orbit and, not seeing that for centuries, call it what it's a space rock. There are plenty of space rocks that size in the rings of Saturn. They don't call them Qusia-Moons

Quasi-moon comes from how it orbit the sun.

And it is its orbit around the sun relative to earth, there is the likely reason that it hasn't been observed till now.

  • Dang, I wish you'd told me about this yesterday.  I took my galactic runabout up for a spin, and smacked into that quasi-moon.  Dern thing came out of nowhere.  Scratched the paint up really bad, and left some dents in the forward pod. frown
