Is it possible to modify haircuts?

Hi everyone,
I just bought the hair https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-punky-tail-hair-for-genesis-3-8-and-81 and I would like to know if the is any way for me to erase the tail part somehow? The haircut is beautiful but that detail really ruins everything. I thought I'd have the option to make it shorter somehow in the adjustements, but unlike every other Daz haircuts there is no way to adjust the lenght of any part of the hair... There is not even any options to add blows for wind which is pretty weird for Genesis 8 characters hair... This is why I'm asking for your help. I'm still kinda new to Daz and definitely don't know everything we can or cannot do yet so I'm taking a chance here.
Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately it's not easy though it's possible... as this is a strand-based hair. You have no way to either manipulate its geometry with Geometry Editor / Mesh Grabber or export / import a morph with Morph Loader Pro, or edit it with Strand-Based Hair Editor. The only way to deform it is to use a D-Former(s) on it. Like the screenshot as attached, I roughly 'scaled' and 'pushed' the tail...
Potentially, you could edit the weight map for density and/or length to get the desired effect. It's past my bed time, but I think I have that hair, and if so, I'll look into it tomorrow.
Exactly ! I've never tried that before. If you wanna 'erase' the tail, it'll be much earsier to edit the B/W map to 'cut it off '... could've modified the map better but more or less like this. Maybe a modified map + d-former can make it even better...
Omg, thank you all for your answers, you're amazing as always! What's a D-Former(s), weight map and B/W map though? :,) I have no idea what you guys are talking about nor how to find it.. Forgive me, I'm new to DAZ3D but very determined to learn.. ><
It is also possible somehow to add blow in the hair if I need it for a scene in what there would be wind?
* D-Former is a couple of nodes attached to an object to deform its shape. You may find quite a few tutorials on youtube by searching 'Daz d-Former'...
* A 'Weight map' (Black and White map) is used on a strand-based hair (SBH) to generate hair clumps / curves' density from weight 0% (Black) to 100% (White), similar to a Cutout Opacity map. You can find the weight map slots on Surfaces pane of a SBH (or search 'clump' or 'density'). Then modify the map as needed...
I saw no 'Blow morph' on this hair but Yes, you may add some blow effects by yourself... For instance, this is a dForce hair, so use a 'dForce Wind Node' + several D-Formers to make the 'blow shapes', even other shapes as you wish... as attached screenshot. You may search 'Daz Wind node' on youtube...
editing the density map is the way to go
I edit ones for furred critters in Gimp wearing clothes
Thank you very much for the detailed explanations, it's gonna help me a lot :) I'm gonna give it a try as soon as possible!
You guys are amazing!
