The Tone Mapping settings are similar to a photographic camera...in low light siutations you want a "film" with a higher ISO. It allows more light to penetrate. You can Google camera settings for info but I would suggest a setting of 400 for your render.
@mjc1016 Oh I didn't know... I wanted them to illuminate the scenery... should I add more lights and make the point light 1/10 of intensity? (is it intensity? it was 100% and I put 200%, the maximun)
If it is a linear point or has falloff turned off 100% is way too bright.
If it's a 'regular' point light, then...put it back to 100%...and then drop the intensity scale to 100 (as opposed to the 1000 it is at default). Then adjust the intensity up in small increments.
I don't know what kind of point light is mine... I just added one, so probably the default :P

There are lots of them out there, just a sec and will see what I find.
Ok if you go to Renderosity to the Free Stuff and type book in the free stuff search (make sure it's the right one cause that same page has the market place search as well) and it comes up with lots of books including open ones.
I did a search at sharecg and got a number of pages with books..

Whew! I'm back! Trying to get some last minute work done as well as finish up with my entry this month (Wow... a new record for me... still a couple of weeks until the end of the month!!!)
This render was something I've imagined for a while after watching Harry Potter for the first time this year... yeah, I don't get out much!
I had a couple of "fun" snafus as I learned a few new tricks and failed miserably at some others. I tried the motion blur feature in DAZ Studio but just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted to. The Reality render engine also let me down this time as it didn't like Tofusan's terrific replicator script, and since I didn't have time to learn how to use Iray, so I went back to my old favorite: 3Delight with Uberenvironment!
Ok, enough talk, here is the render... well background story first:
Quidditch: The Real Reason Why Wizards Don't Have Kids
During a high speed, 3-G turn in a particularly intense game of Quidditch, a certain wizard's apprentice learns painfully why only witches are depicted riding brooms... and usually side-saddle at that.
Snitch: pixie wings with custom texture Georgehaze ultimate shader pack (Gold shader applied on sphere primative with a custom texture and bump map), also used for metal items on broom and clothing.
Jai Hair (Daz3d.com)
220 Emotions for Genesis (Daz3d.com) - absolutely awesome collection!
Disclaimers:
Rendered in DAZ Studio Pro 4.8 using 3Delight & Uberenvironment
Postwork in Photoshop for layering, slight re-coloring, motion blur and signature
Custom blowing cape morph created in Hexagon 2.5
Free sky background found on the internet somewhere (probably Renderosity).
Free cloth bump map also downloaded from somewhere (probably ShareCG)
Oh... and I almost forgot: All sites require registration

Thanks Kismet! I'm off to post in the entry thread!
@Skywalker77 I love it!! Awesome work!!! Have you watched all the movies as well?? Also super recommend the books! Love the Harry Potter picture!
Thanks taemimun! I've only seen the first two so far. One of these days I'll sit down and have a marathon... how many movies are there? like 7? I may have to take a short vacation to do it!!
I will definitely have read those... everyone seems to like them.

Yes there are 7 movies, wonderful movies I might add (even at my age I can watch them over and over again) and the books are quite brillant. I actually didn't read the first book until after I'd seen the first movie but after that I tried to get ahead of the movies with my reading and was plesantly surprised at how close they managed to keep to the books. You're right though, they do seem to appeal to a wide audience - even my 93 y/o grandmother enjoys watching them with me lol

That's awesome! I think mine would have freaked out with the second one with the ghost girl popping in and out of the toilet all the time!
You have to admit she was a little creepy, even for a ghost!
