DAZ+ membership time to buy

I was going to post an image of the price I paid for the annual membership, 27.99 after the discounts going on. Thank you DAZ for providing the chance to buy and extend my current membership.

You out there reading this, now is the time to buy if you're sitting on the fence, or if your membership is a few months away from ending. I do not believe it will be offered again at like 60% off.

No thanks, I will skip this offer. There is nothing I need to purchase.

60% is the most that I have seen. If you actualy want any of the qualifing items, required for the deal, it makes perfect sense to grab it.

I got it for $21 last year, I think a few days later it would have been even $18 or something ridiculous like that.

Of course no guarantee if and when something like that happens again.

$28 is certainly no bad deal.

Sounds good, but with two daughters going off to college, I'm going back to being a frugal bastard.

That's for sure... especially considering that due to disruptions in the supply chain, pixels and polygons have become at least 20% more expensive than last year, which if you do the math, a typical item that was for example $1 last year, works out to about $75 today... I don't know what math Wall Street people use, but that seems to be the typical ratio of inflation... like experts will say "prices have risen 18% from last year" and you are wondering why, if they are using regular math does that $5 box of cereal cost $62...
I suspect they are using variable phase decimal points or silent numbers, but whatever the formula, I no longer rely on what anything cost fifteen minutes ago...
It feels like when I was a kid and my step grandfather used to tell me about how in 1915 he could buy a steak dinner made of real cow meat for a nickel and still get back enough change to ride the subway to Coney Island and buy three tickets to ride the Cyclone and still get back enough change from that to buy a deluxe Nathan's hotdog and a extra large coke, with real cocaine in it.
Only now, I'm talking about literal yesterday, not 75 years ago when I'm reminiscing about how much stuff used to cost...

Acouple of months ago me and my daughter were waiting for the traffic light to change and apparently were were both looking at the same electronic gas station sign when the price jumped 40¢ per gallon... she was like "God, that makes me feel old... I feel like by next year I'm going to be like "remember when a McDonald's hamburger was $45 and they gave you napkins for free"..."

  • Always paid full price no breaks here lol.

You did not mention the buy-in requirements:

60% OFF* when you buy any 2+ Debut NewStill New or Spotlight Releases over $1.

Now considering most items in there are +10$. Looks more like a 30 or 40% discount to me so nothing new.

Also some already have very large libraries or have a niche (myself included) so have to be picky what to buy next. They are not going to buy random products just to get a certain discount. I'm not complaining, I still like DAZ as a company. I just thought this had to be mentioned.

    Thanks for the heads-up though.

Correction, I'm starting to dislike DAZ because for whatever reason they won't include a Show Wishlist Only checkbox. This makes shopping here very inpractical.

Even though I'm not a big spender here I will buy even less if they keep neglecting to add that feature and I'm probably not alone.

Thought I should mention this as well.

    Good weekend all

Considering it is part of the daz deals 3rd party plugin, I can understand why they don't add it. If you are not seeing it anymore, you need to put in your email in the notifications section of the daz deals plugin for it to show again.

And this is precisely why I hardly bother looking these days. This year my DAZ spend has dropped significantly (which is good because inflation is decimating my pension) and the main reason is that most of the sales have those "when you buy ..." qualifiers.

...indeed it is the more expensive buy in (used to be one now it's two+ items) to get the better discount in Daz sales that has soured me, not just this sale but previous ones

The best ideal I received on an annual membership (several occasions) was 60% that needed no "buy-in".  My current one that expires this December cost 23$ thanks to a 5$ store credit offer.

One of those "picky" ones here due to a tight budget and having a "niche" which has narrowed ever since G9 was introduced. Part of this is that I cannot justify dumping insane amounts of zlotys of my meagre income into yet another new generation (particularly one that seems to have a few issues) to make it fully useful for my charcter development needs

Hence much of my "choosiness" is economically driven. particularly with the prices this year so "Impulse buying" is out. I used to love this sale until it became just like all the others, particularly with price jumops in two of the exclusive Daz+ categories (one of which this year now requires a "buy-in" to get a lower price for which last year all items were a flat 1.99$ with no other purchase needed).

So as I mentioned earlier on more chance for Daz to get it right with the Daz+ Anniversary event, and if not, I won't be renewing my membership when it expires in early December.

@marble, ...exactly. this year's sale I've spent just under half (45.7%) of what I did last year during this sale up to and including today (06-17).  Much of this to do with the 4$ increase in the D+FaD (have yet to purchase anything in that category),  the increased cost of the buy-in (often needed two items) on other sales categories, and (forgot to mention above) and no 40% off on new releases for Daz+ members like in previous years.

Well, you could use two Spotlight items at $2 to $3 each to get the price down to $27.99. Then if you apply 8 tokens the price is only $16.79 for the membership and less than $2 each for the spotlight items.  With 8 tokens applied, the membership, the PBR Brick Shaders, and the Dystopian Corridor all come to a total cart price of $19.96

    Really?

I mean - who can be bothered. I have better things to do with my time than to try to figure out the complexities of the DAZ Sale stacking/token/spotlight/qualifier conundrum. At some (early) stage I give up and switch my browser to the Rendo store.

Oh, of course - you were being sarcastic :)

...8 tokens is 80$ (or 40$ if you got them all on "Double Token Monday")  so that 19.96$, actually becomes 99.96$ (which is 29.96$ more than the normal Annual Membership price) or in the case of "Double Token Monday", 59.96$ which is about 10.04$ less).

Last year I didn't need any of this buy in malarkey to get an annual membership for 28$ (it was just a flat 60% off),. and if (like myself) you had a little bit of store credit laying around (not from a gift card),that sweetened the deal even more.  Getting an annual membership for less than the price of a quarterly one, with no other strings attached, is definitely a good thing.

Spotlight items at 2$ or 3$? 8 tokens for free?

We must be shopping at different stores surprise

    +1 on that.

My Daz+ ran out over a year ago and I haven't missed it in the slightest.

Nope, not different stores; just different membership levels. Spotlight  items are  that price for DAZ+ members. And, no, the tokens aren't free; but if you have them then they can be used reduce the membership price in an order where you are using them anyway

I'm glad DAZ+ is there for the people who will benefit from it, but it hasn't been me for awhile. Especially with the move to Genesis 9 being for all intents and purposes a female figure.

You can't sort for male or gender neutral clothing or male characters in the store. The overwhelming majority of content being made for G9 is female oriented, which is understandable given the buying habits of the customer base. But this approach doesn't feel like it's opening possibilities, it feels more like 'quiet quitting' stuff for males. That doesn't even touch on the chest issues that show up when you take the female default figure shape and change it to male.

  • Richard HaseltineRichard Haseltine Posts: 100,950

It is neither male nor female by default but an intermediate form, to make it easier to crate clothing and props (one of the issues with Genesis [1]).

  • TimbalesTimbales Posts: 2,334
An intermediate form that is female presenting enough that image moderation is applies as if it's a female character.

I just don't want to navigate things in order to save money. I don't want to buy points, or figure out what is new or nearly new. I don't want to buy something from a specific category to save money somewhere else.

DAZ should just give us straight deals or price reductions. Until this happens I won't bother with DAZ+. In fact, I rarely spend money here any more.

You're not alone in that, Ron. For example, when I see words similar to "when you buy ..." I automatically skip to the next category. Trouble is that the next category also has similar conditions, and the next, etc., etc.

One has to wonder whether DAZ marketing use focus groups. If this forum is anything to go by (from what I can see), straightforward and simple discounts would get the majority vote.
