Comments
Genesis GenX2 is a utility to convert V4 or Genesis models to Genesis 2. The program specifications tell you what models and morphs are required.
Genesis and Genesis 2 are base figures for Daz Studio. If you don't have Genesis 2, you can't work with a model that requires Genesis 2. A Genesis model erquires the Genesis base figure.
but for buildings or objects? do i need some plugins or addons?
Generally no, unles you're looking at an expansion or texture pack. The program description will tell you what you need to have.
Genesis 2 Figures are free with Daz Studio. They have a separated install files named Genesis 2 Female/Male Starter Essential. So, if you have shapes or characters which need the Genesis 2 Base you can use it simply after installing these packs. You can't use directly a Genesis 1 shape in the genesis 2 base. Effectively, you need a tool to convert the shape from 1 to 2. This tool is genx2.
Genesis Generation X version 2 (genx2) is a plugging to convert morphs (shapes) from V4/M4 to Genesis 1. For use with other figures add-ons are needed. In the case of Genesis 2 Female/Male the product genesis 2 add-on is needed. This add the capacity to convert shapes from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2 F/M, then from V4/M4 to Genesis 2 F/M. Conversion from Genesis 2 to Genesis 1 is also possible.
I think there are more threads about Daz Studio-to-Iclone, but this is only I find: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/33730/the-path-to-iclone/p1
actually i want to make a triler for a game in cry like cinematic.for that i need 5 characters and some objects (like military equipment, cloths, helicopter or other ships, guns and buildings).about the chars i will create them but the cloths and other objects i dont know how to make.i am beginer and thats why i ask.i will make the chars in daz,the easiest way for me.rigg them in mixamo, animate and lipsync in iclone 5 and then export to cry where i wil make that cinematic scene.so if i create my self the chars i need that genesis2? i must export chars from daz to 3ds where i will animate cloths and hair but until there...f.e. this one http://www.daz3d.com/imperial-soldier-for-genesis-2-male-s.it says compatible figures genesis 2 male,so i need that genesis or genesis 2 figures its already included like GIGI said?i cant use the suit on my own model?actually i need the suit not the char.f.e. this http://www.daz3d.com/andrius-outfit-for-genesis-2-male-s. its says giani 6.what is that giani 6?
by the way...important to know..if its compatible with daz 4.8 its not working in 4.7?
''Genesis 2 Figures are free with Daz Studio. They have a separated install files named Genesis 2 Female/Male Starter Essential. So, if you have shapes or characters which need the Genesis 2 Base you can use it simply after installing these packs''
ok GIGI...''instaling these pack''...which pack?
by the way, where are you from GIGI? romania?
im thinking to make the cloth in marvelous but its little difficult to make that kind of suit.i have no experience in that.
another question is about the wings http://www.daz3d.com/gargoyle-wings. can use these on chars and animate them? do i need geesis 2 too?
by the way...what means poses?
I assume you have DAZ Studio 4.8 Pro? If not go here and get it: https://www.daz3d.com/daz_studio then click on "Get Started Today"
Do you use the DAZ Install Manager (DIM)? This is the easiest way to install the DAZ Studio software and extras. If you already have it, then you should find a number of files which you need to install to use DAZ Studio - these include a Lights and Shader pack, Genesis Starter Essentials pack, Genesis 2 Starter Essentials pack and Genesis 3 Essentials pack.
If you don't have the DIM then there's a link to get it in your Product Library - go to http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/ and look for "Install Manager" (Win or Mac depending on your equipment)
Some people prefer not to use the DIM - if you don't want then you can download .zip files from your Product Library:
Genesis figure and some poses, clothes, hair and a few props from: http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/#prod_14812
Genesis 2 Female and Male figures, poses, clothes and props from: http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/#prod_16280
Genesis 3 Female (no Male exists yet) etc here: http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/#prod_21630
Poses by the way are pre-defined positions to put a figure into, for example sitting down, kneeling, walking along. You can pose your figures yourself, but these poses are quicker and you can then do small adjustments to get the figure into the position you want. (By the way, I don't do Animations myself so I have absolutely no idea about that side of things.)
There are whole loads of Forum threads about the different add-on figures and how they are related to the base ones. I'll add links to some of them as soon as I can find them. You specifically asked about Gianni 6 - he's an adaptation of the Genesis 2 Male (G2M) figure. If you see clothes or hair for him, they will generally work on the base G2M figure. You can also use clothes for Genesis on G2F or G2M (though some work better than others, long skirts, flowing capes etc can be a problem) and clothes for G2F on G3F (similar problems) but not backwards from G3 to G2 or G2 to Genesis "1" unless you buy some add-ons.
ETA: Here's one thread about the various base figures and characters based on them: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24257/daz-3d-human-figures-a-history
And a slightly more up-to-date one by GiGi_7I: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/41223/converting-to-g1-g2-and-g3-wip
Ah I just read another of your posts above - you ask about DS 4.8 and DS 4.7 - does that mean you already have DS 4.7? Not everything for DS 4.8 works for 4.7 - for example anything that says it is for Iray renderer is made for 4.8. If something (e.g. clothing or buildings) also says it has 3Delight shader presets, then it should work on either. Although if you are moving content out of DS and into other software for rendering then I don't know whether that matters.
Gargoyle Wings - the product page says they are for G2F, G2M andGenesis, so they should work on any of those figures.
i have both 4.7 and 4.8 but somebody told me the 4.8 bridge for iclone its not working thats way i prefer 4.7.if you know more about...
Ah OK - I actually still use 4.6 (alongside a 4.8 Beta so I can use both Iray and some of the older bits that don't work so well with 4.8)
So have you installed all the base figures already? Genesis and G2F/G2M certainly work perfectly in 4.6 so should in 4.7 and I haven't found anything non-Iray that doesn't work in 4.6 yet.
yes i have all except genesis generation 2 and that addon which are not free.i dont know exactly but if that obj or char its for 4.8 you can oprn with 4.8 and then its possible to convert for 4.7?
from daz i need just to make the chars, some suits and some objects. animations and lipsync i will make in iclone and after that i will import all to cryengine
If you mean GenX2, you only need that if you have favourite characters set up using earlier generation models (V4/M4) that you want to copy to use on Genesis or G2F/G2M, or characters based on Genesis "1" that you want to copy to use on G2F/G2M. By characters, I mean the shape of the body, facial features, etc. If you are making your own characters directly on G2F/G2M then you don't need the GenX2 product at all. But you may want to buy Morph kits - these allow you to change the shape of the face, nose, ears, etc and the body, to make a unique-looking character of your own. You could also do this yourself in a modelling program (ZBrush, Silo for exampe, or free in software like Blender) but this would require skill and experience - which you may already have? There are thread about doing this too if you search in the forums. (I use Google search, specifiying site:daz3d.com/forums/ because the forum search here seems a bit lacking).
I have to go to dinner now, so won't be around for a couple of hours. Hope this has helped a little.
i am a beginer thats why i ask here.of course i want to make changes on face,i wish to create some little monsters so that menas i need morph kit?
by the way thanks a lot for help
