Kitschy lawn ornaments please, especially gnomes
I'd love to see some kitschy lawn ornaments, especially traditional garden gnomes, the kind that comes in bright colours with pointy hats, both males and females. If they were posable and with some props (wagons, shovels, baskets, etc.), even better. Low on resources so I can fill a garden with a couple of dozen of them would be great. I already have these sets which have gnomes in them, but there are no females, and my kitschy garden needs more variety.

I found some free .obj models that are perfect, but they are not UV mapped and I only have UV Mapper. They are proving to be quite a pain to map, due in part to the items that are holding.
Kitschy deer, geese, ducks, etc. would be great too.

Do you have some pictures of what you have in mind?
Not sure if it counts but there is a plastic flamingo in Flamingo Park Trailers.
It does count, and I have it. But someone else might not, and be looking for something like it. Thank you for the suggestion.
I'd like something along the lines of these:

I'd like both a beard and a moustache on the males,(not the Disney style missing the moustache,.and not the faceless style with the big round nose). Long dresses and braids on the females would be awesome.
If it was rigged I could do something along the lines of this (I actually bought this one for a friend. It sits in a place of honour in the living room because he doesn't want it getting stolen or ruined by the elements LOL)

I have to admit, I love garden gnomes, I have since I was a very small child, even if they're tacky.
I think it's the nostalgia aspect of it. I love old cottages/cabins and gardens as well, with their ancient furnishings, decorations, and appliances.
What about something like this but with a plastic shader? https://www.daz3d.com/gnomely-for-genesis-9
Somehow I had completely overlooked that. Thanks for pointing it out. The face looks great and the body has the requisite compact shape. The only issues are system resources. and suitable outfits. Being a garden, I'd be using lots of plants, grasses and trees, and I'm wanting to put a dozen or more gnome statues in that garden plus human characters. It. It wouldn't be an instances situation because they'd all be doing different things.
You can take it to base resolution and the simple plastic shader should reduce the resource load. Good luck
There are some affordable gnomes on CGTrader in OBJ format that can be successfully imported into DAZ.
With that said, I would LOVE some posable gnomes. And zombie gnome.
Zombie gnomes,YES! And Zombie flamingoes!
And dinosaures eating gnomes.
I'd also love to see a garden gnome set!! With boys and girls, the braids, the hats, the Gnomeo and Juliet style movie would be a great place to start for any makers looking for ideas! :) I've been looking for gnomes for years! Have all the ones listed above, except the Gen 9 characters, which I now have on my wishlist! Thanks for throwing this one out there!!
of the Daz Ai variety
Modelling a gnome is beyond me. However, there are some affordable (ie free) Gnomes in Thingiverse.
They mostly use CC licenses. The one shown below uses the CC 4.0 by attribution, and came from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:88207
Under this license someone can take the mesh and turn it into a freebie DAZ prop. Or [which isn't so nice], a paid for DAZ prop.
Regards,
Richard.
I did start making one, simple prop variety, but thought it kind of niche. Not sure how much of a market there is.
Gnomes are, I think, firmly in the provice of freebie suppliers. I'd be surprised if the number of downloads of a freebie gnome would exceed 100 by a lot.
Also, the time involved in modelling one from scratch would make most freebie suppliers baulk if (unlike me) they could do it at all.
That leaves scans as being the best option, and scans tend to lead to massive models. I've just de-triangulated the one above and reduced the original number of facets in the stl file from 139422 facets to a mere 93041 in the obj file. Might be fun to do though.

Richard
Renderhub has some twenty OBJ Gnomes
I never cease to be astonished by people. However gnonly one is free at Renderhub.

Right. I think this looks like a home painted lawn ornament:

Couldn't help myself, the prop is in the Freebie Forum : https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/693456/garden-gnome-lawn-ornament

Not a gnome, but this one has a flamingo and a windmill: https://www.daz3d.com/lawn-ornaments
Iknow I have another bric-a-brac gnome statue in one of my environments that wasn't listed here, but I'll have to look it up when I get to my PC with all tracking files as for the life of me I can't remember which it was in (just that I went "oh hey! Another gnome!)
In the first 20 days, which covers the initial 'frenzy' time after first upload and then it settles down into 'tickover' mode, the gnome model has been downloaded a huge 95 times. About what I expected, and shows that gnomes are not something that a vendor trying to earn a living from their work could afford to make.

Richard
So, sales of the product have been very cold? 0o
