Disappearing and reappearing tokens

Yesterday I had 12 tokens, two were set to expire last night, so I expected to have 10 tokens left today. It turns out I was wrong, I checked this morning and ALL of my tokens had disappeared. I'm tired of dealing with the frustration of disappearing and reappearing tokens, it's getting ridiculous. What's the motivation for earning tokens if they can disappear at any given time?
