  • You're very fortunate. Our local hospital 'lost' my MIL for 3 days. The computer glitched & they had no idea which ward she was in, or if she'd been discharged (hadn't been). In the end it turned out she'd been transferred to a cottage hospital 6miles from us. Which was nice.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I have to agree about engaging characters & story. The fact they're so engaging is what makes it such a horrible thing that happening to them.

And, the 'But for the Grace of God, there go I' sympathy effect - the storyline is so real & relatable. From a very parochial UK perspective one thing that makes the storyline less real & relatable is that

    1. There is more than one [overcrowded] hospital in the area the patient could be taken to,
    2. Someone actually picks the phone up at the hospital (even if everything gets re-directed to maintenance) and
    3. The hospital has a patient record system that works (my MIL was 'lost' by our hospital's computer system for 3 days last year, and a couple of years ago I had an op and couldn't go back to my original bed for recovery after the op, because the computer showed it already occupied - by ...me...! Gaah!).

However, that's a reflection of our chaotic hospital system, not your story.

    Regards,

    Richard

Yes, I remember you telling of the harrowing ordeal your mother-in-law underwent.  That must have been a tough 3 days.
I live in Florida where there are a lot of old folks, and consequently a lot of hospitals. laugh I have not been hospitalized (I should say "yet.")  but my mother has been 4 times and in 4 different hospitals.  I am fortunate that I've only had good experiences.

He might need to go back to the emergency room after that mid-air tackle.
