Smart content

I'm quite curious about content purchased outside Daz3d. Are vendors of content outside Daz's own site allowed to include smart content for their products sold on other sites? I have purchased tons of content from various sites that do not include smart content. Is this a Daz only thing or are vendors just too lazy to include it on other sites? So much content but not easy to find. I have stuff I purchased that I never used simply because I didn't even realize I had it. Sure you can find it in the content library but the ease of using smart content for characters such as V7 is quite valuable. I have seen tutorials on how to make smart content on Youtube from Slosh. It seems a fairly simple process but can be undaunting when trying to update dozens of products and their respective materials and such.

  • They are allowed to do so, yes, the tools are in the base applciation - but they will need to give instructions to the user on how to load it.

Thanks for the answer. Can't quite figure out why vendors don't include the smart content files, in the end people may actually use their stuff if they could find it...

It's an extra layer of work...

If it's a paid product, it may be worth it, but for freebies, at least for me, it isn't worth the extra work.

I was referring to paid products. Most of the vendors I'm referring to, sell on both Daz and other sites but only include smart content through Daz's site. I can understand if freebies didn't have smart content although If I were to create a freebie I'd want the person using it to find it. How many products just lay at the bottom of our content with strange names applied to them that you couldn't even search for. Hell, we can't even search for a folder name. But I digress...

I would not be suprised if DAZ generates the metadata scripts to add PA products to the Smart Content tab.
