Loading speed, and operating speed in general, depends on a lot of context; it's not just the storage device but also the way you set up your OS, the way you configured certain options (for example the use of cache and the likes) and sometimes even how the storage medium itself is configured.

And no, an interface alone usually won't make much of a difference but once again: context applies.

When loading a figure a lot of the tiem taken is in-memory processing, not the fiel reading. A faster drive might help with render startup, as the renderer has to read the full texture files, but that is generally a small part of the overall render time.

Tiny gap in b/t M.2 and SSD for the applicatijon of DS ... that xxxx M / sec. mostly applies for 'big files' in terms of read / write performance, while it's not such a case with DS.

I've always had the application on my fastest drive and the content on a secondary. It's hard to tell any real world difference between sata ssds and various m2 drives I've tried while loading and saving stuff in DS.

I've noticed a small difference when switching libraries which I think is more affected by cache rather than interface type but then you're comparing instant to very nearly instant.

Size does matter, speed not that much.

I have my content library spread over five 1TB SSD's and one external 4TB USB HD and I don't notice any significant difference in how fast the assets load.
