Explain me please how to make PBR weighted surface shiny?

Explain me please how to make PBR weighted surface shiny? As dumbproof as possible please. I foundPS something like guide (not Sickleyield) but it was too complicated (I'll appreciate something simple like PBR Roughness - reduce the roughess and voila)

PS: Dumbproof info about PBR glossiness will be useful too.

Under surfaces, increase Base Metallicity value and decrease the Glossy Roughness value. Those two settings have the most dramatic effect.

Hmm... thanks, but where I should look for Base Metallicity? I can't see such setting.

Edit: I found it, it appears only with Roughness, but Rougness is the only setting which I have no problem to make the surfaces shiny. I need to learn how to make Wighted and Glossiness surfaces shiny.

When you say PBR weighted, do you mean Iray Uber or PBRSkin?

    This one:

The drop down where the choices are:

    --------------------------------------

    PBR Metalicity/Roughness
    PBR Specular/Glossiness
    Weighted

    ---------------------------------------

(can't post an image - forum overloaded or whatever)

That looks like Iray Uber, but look at top-left of the Surfaces pane when in the Editor tab with a surface selected and you will see the name of the shader.

But you are not really explaining what you are trying to achieve - those are proeprties, with sliders to conmtrol their effect, not different shaders (though they do chnage the behaviour fairly broadly).

  • Yes, Iray Uber (MDL)

And what its it that you are trying to do?

As Richard said, it depends on what you are trying to achieve.

But if you turn up Glossy Weight (towards 1), and turn down Glossy Roughness (towards 0) you will get a glossy surface.

It's easy to do a surface shiny on PBR Metalicity/Roughness, but there are rare surfaces which are on "Weighted" or "PBR Specular/Glossiness". What I need is to understand how to make Weighted and Clossiness surfaces shiny, especially Weighted.
