How does G9 Make-up work?

I am just starting to tinker around with G9 and while I used to apply make up as L.I.E.s the new generation has this dedicated Make-up surface. But how on earth does it work? Apparently you can not mix the Make-up from different characters and even more the Make-up does seem to work only on particalar character textures. 

Is there any kind ofd turorial around how these  files work?

I am not aware of any tutorials.

But as I see it, you can mix makeup, but it requires that you have the relevant masks (black-white (or grey) image.

Try to describe what you are trying.

Think of makeup as an overlay. Makeup weight determines how strong the makeup is, and will be a black-grey-white image, which can be combined in LIE.

The makeup value (or what it is called..) determines how the makeup look. Here again can be optained with LIE, if you want to combine more make-ups.
