So its been a while since I jumped onto a new figure bandwagon. So far I am loving a lot of things about Genesis 9. My question is, does anyone know of a set of morphs for G9 that include ethnicity, monsters, etc? I had become somewhat dependent on the ability to create faces from different races, but when I search the store I don't find any means aside from individual characters, which isnt as useful to me as generalized ethnic and creature morphs. I am also hoping that maybe I could find a way to convert Genesis 1 morphs to Genesis 9, as this would provide me with the much needed ethnicity and creature morphs I seek. All feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Rashad! Sorry, I don't have anything to add, I don't know of any ethnicity morph sets for G9.  Just wanted to say "Hi', haven't seen any post from you in quite a while (might be I'm just haning out in the wrong places).

If you want to create your own custom morphs, be sure to grab Genesis 9 Essential Shapes BundleVinme Morphs for Genesis 9 also adds a lot of dials. It's not as simple as dialing an Ethnicity dial, but you can do quite a bit with G9.

Check out the thread called head games for some of the potential on what you can create with just the basic morph packages or dialing in a mix of different characters. AllenArt posted a bunch of great characters in that thread!

Do GenX and GenX2 run on DS 4.21? If so at least you can transfer G1 up to G3, and then use the various RiverSoft converters to up G3 to G9. It's a shame that my copies of GenX and GenX2 cannot run on my DS 4.15

I can only agree with this. The 'ethnicity' morphs I have tried so far were all more or less stereotypes, some of them even very questionable. I had much better results when I took a good (!) 'ethnic' character (e.g. Darius, Mei Lin etc.) and then modified it with the Basic Morphs and others. The same certainly applies to the Genesis 9 figures.

  • It may be worth looking at the G9 core figures: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/642596/list-of-g9-core-figures#latest

Not knowing which ethnic group you're aiming for, I'm not too sure what other characters to suggest apart from, maybe, Mousso's Dola, Hana and Jenny. Not sure about Hana, but maybe good to go in a mix. Dola's skin looks more like the first promo than the lighter later ones under quite a lot of lighting I've tried.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello,

They are two videos from Jay Versluis about converting morphs from older gen to G9. I only watched the second (I don't have characters from before G8), but according to the description of his video about converting G2 and G3 to G9, he speaks about the best way to deal with G1 in it, so hopefully it may help you:

Heya thanks so much for these additional resources! It's true the enthinicty morphs with Genesis and previous figures were not intended as final characters, but they did help me when I was sorting out new textures and wanted to see how they'd look on a wide range of character faces. I'm loving Genesis 9 in so many ways so I'll ned to take some risks and get better at creating morphs for myself. Learning always continues!

I usually just spin the facial component morphs from G9's morph packages to create different races, as it's much more reliable as you're the one doing the creation.

Besides, aside from Daz's original content, it's rare that someone makes realistic over stylised content as there's a much bigger demand for stylisation than strict realism, which is more than fine as it's best to hone your skills rather than rely too much on pre-made content anyway.

Having said that, I wish DAZ would make original content that included more JCM morphs as they are definitely needed as Daz really is the best at it, having created such incredibly versatile and amazingly realistic content that we base our characters/morphs on after all...

But to be fair, I'm under the impression that Daz is holding back to make room for other PAs which is a good thing as well, as many base their livelihood on it!
