Shelve Iray render for later ?

Is there an option to save/export w/o processing an Iray render ? So I can either use Studio to process it when ever I want, or throw it into a Iray standalone renderer (which doesn't seem to exist ?)

No. Although that might be not yet; at least, I hope it will get implemented.

Boo. Main reason I'm using LuxRender is because I can send them to my other GPU-less machine to render, but Iray looks so nice and the integration with Studio is better than LuxRender.

You can of course save the scene and open up on another computer to render.

You can also open up another instance of Daz and continue working on something else; although why Daz would allow that, when instead one could be browsing the shop and buying more stuff I've no idea. cheeky

I heard opening a second instance of DAZ Studio wipes the temp folder, which Iray uses to render. The other computers run a headless Linux so using the scene wouldn't work. Also sharing assets would be a hassle.

I saw Iray has a render-farm-server in the works, hopefully that works with DAZ3D Studio once it comes out.

  • I also wish they would implement a feature like this.  It would be useful when I want to stop a render for a while and come back to it much later (as in possibly after a restart of my computer).  Also, sometimes you want to stop a render to play a game or do something else that will require all of your system resources and you don't want to have to start all over again when you come back to your render.

It continues to render after opening another instance, I've not noticed an issue then with the render.

As long as you've saved the scene, you can reload it; if the scene is the same as the other one open, then it will wipe and reload at the same time; the important part is saving the scene - always a good idea: computers crash!

Basically, it sends the info to the graphics card to render, which is probably why I've not noticed an issue as I render on GPU; it may be different on CPU

The temp folder is: C:\Users\[YOUR_NAME_or_WINDOWS_TEN_GARBAGE]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp

Test it out, and you can see when it gets cleared.
