Install Manager - DS/PS/Legacy? What's the difference?

Okay, despite the title, I understand that DS = DAZ|Studio and Ps = Poser...but what are the Legacy files? And should I be using those over the DS versions?  Are those for people who aren't using the current Studio build?

  • legacy has been used in more than one way, unfortunately - for old-style data files (.dso, .dsd etc.) for use in older versions of DS, for materials pre/post DS 4.8 when there were changes in how Iray handled some settings, and possibly for other differences too.

Thanks for the response, Richard...is it safe to assume that if I'm using DS 4.21, the standard DS file should be the one I grab, then?

  • Yes, I would think that was safe in pretty well all cases.
