MD Wet Skin for Genesis 9 => No genitalia support?

Was a great product while it lasted, but there is no support for genitalia, as in, virtually no genital texture maps, which is odd when every single wet shader product I've come across and bought has, and if anyone can find a support forum I'd like to know where it is, as I've searched to no avail!

There is no support for genitalia in the product.  It is a general rule in Dazland if there is no mention of anatomical element support then there is no support.  You have a few choices: you can return the product and get a refund, you can make a geoshell that includes the anatomical element, copy and paste the shader, and save that (i.e. "roll your own"), you can go to Help at the bottom of evey Daz3d webpage and have them ask the artist to make the, or you can contact the artist directly (a simple google search of the artist's name revealed the twitter link, the creator's personal webpage which includes a contact link.

Do not contact vendors directly offsite unless they've said that's cool.

Proper method is either a commercial thread (if there is one), or a ticket.

Point well taken...  I will confess I have contacted artists who have sites concerned with their 3d products (this PA in particular has a 3d site where they promote their Daz3d products, offer freebies, and have a contact me link) and have had productive and pleasant conversations.  Realistically, tickets are broken here... I believe I have open tickets that are years old.  In this case, I think it would be more efficient to create the extra geoshell since the product contains elements for customizing.

General tickets usually get a response within 24-48 hours. The only tickets that can take a very long time are tech support tickets, usually. Daz handles all customer support for us (PA's) and if it's not something they can answer they will get in touch with us and put us in contact. A good portion of us don't care if you contact us but some do really care. If you have a question about one of our products who best to answer them.

Whelp, I was hoping that there would be a workaround, I'll try it as this is really the best wet shader that I have come across, and I don't want to refund it as I DESPISE  refunding something that I bought!

EDIT: It won't work, as the product demands the included script-based geoshell, and the saved geoshell won't apply, so it looks like it's refund time pending my ticket's resolution as I requested genitalia be also included in a future update.

I was hoping one of the unofficial PA representatives here would speak out, yeah, I don't like the idea of direct contact, otherwise, they would be inundated with scores of people bugging them about all manner of issues both large and small, in their free time, which is why support forums are such a great thing!

Thanks for this, yeah I'll make sure to ask via the ticket system, oh and this forum could very well do with a multi-quote feature! x^D

  • The Ultimate Skin Moisture series by Thunder-3D over at Renderotica are far superior to the ones here and the latest version (2.0) has a novel system using geoshell and decals. Looks great and does 8, 8.1, and 9 out of the box with all genital models supported.

My god, I'm an idiot, I bought that very product, yet I was so concerned with it working with G8.1 that I did not even know it supported G9!

... The Daz store really is a dire threat to one's wallet! x^D

I really, REALLY hate refunding anything, but crap, I just may have to, though I just wrote a ticket for a genital map to be included, and I've yet to try the workaround mentioned here, so if that works, it will look like I'll have both, as MD Wet Skin for Genesis 9 really IS an incredible shader for G9!

EDIT: It won't work, read my last post for the info as to why.

Thanks for all the info above. Lucky that I did not buy it.

    Re: contacting pas:

One reason to send in a ticket is that there are some issues that PAs literally cannot do anything about, like installation or smart content or, often, even missing files.

Sending a PA a query about these things can waste your time because the PA has to notice your message and then get back to you and then you have to put a ticket in anyway.

For things more like the original topic, if the PA DOES have a forum presence it's likely they will not mind a dm.
I welcome dms for my stuff, though I'll admit I often forget to check for them (which is why I like to make commercial threads; much more likely to notice!)

You have to use the graft adjuster tool preset (or honestly just use the iray uber shader to set the graft surfaces as iray and the copy paste the leg surface mat onto the gens area). The reason the 2.0 system works so well is tht it's not tied to materials that are set to a specific UV.

Well, aside from the missing genitalia, it's still a great product, and there is a workaround. Now I'm going to give that a test hopefully I won't have to refund anything!

Elaborate please, what is this graft adjuster tool? I mainly want to know for future reference.

And a great big thanks for the specificity, with the alt method!

Thanks for the info, yeah, the last thing I would do is bug anyone with a DM unless it's of vital importance, so now I have more time with my guitar! ;^)

If you have version 2 it's uv independent for the mats. Under the Shell Toolkit folder is a folder called Graft Helper. You just select the mat zones on the shell that are from your geografts and apply. The thing comes with a manual it explains everything.

Wait, just to be clear, we're both talking about MD wet skin for G9, right?

If not, then I've got things covered with Ultimate Skin Moisture as I have no issue with it, I just did not know it supported G9. But yeah as far as MD wet skin for G9 is concerned I may have to refund, pending the results of the ticket resolution...

Yup i cosign this. Most others i've worked with just make the skin look oily. This product has lots of wetness options, such as sweat and that just out of the shower look. Its by Thunder3d and miepe so it works with his products.

I thought your comment about it not working with grafts was about USM. Nevemind if it was about MD Wet Skin. I don't own any G9 so never tried it.

Ahhh, well no matter, your info was more than useful as I can still use it for future reference, thanks! :^)

There is another problem with this product. MD Wet Skin for Genesis 9 loads files from other Daz and PA products. Those products are not listed as being required and I'm certain that they are not intended to be required or loaded. The geoshell offset properties presets replace the original character's texture maps in the geoshell with Freja 9's texture maps (if you own the product, otherwise missing file errors). They also attempt to load a P3D makeup product file. (P3D is a different PA in the Daz store). I don't see any reason for a mesh offset properties preset to change texture maps at all. This must be a mistake that was not not caught by the PA or Daz. I have submitted a help request about it.

Wow, I did not even notice that!

Whelp, hopefully, your ticket can help others with this product as it will be a moot point for me as plan to refund it… Thanks a bunch for this info!

EDIT: I just bought the G8-to-G9 bodysuit, so I may not have to refund it after all!

EDIT: LOL, I really need to get some sleep, (Thankfully I don't drive or operate heavy machinery!) I'm going ahead with the refund after all, because, it would not work without the genitalia maps, I had everything backwards... :^P
