I have issues with Laguna Mertail Set for Genesis3

I bought the Laguna Mertail Set immediately !! Love the Artists and love the tail but I am having an issue with the 3Delight Mats ,when I apply them to the tail it is leaving a band of un-textured tail at the join between the mertail and the human body ,and I can't figure out if it's me doing something wrong or a real issue with the MATs ......can anybody help???

The problem seems to be the application of the material to the character, not the tail.
Were there any error messages while you applied the skin texture to the character?
could be a trans map not applying correctly
Nope no error messages at all ,and I use to think I knew my way around the surface tab semi well ,with these,I am absolutely clueless ........and I have tried applying the texture to just the G3 figure by itself ,applied looked fine ,load the tail all that looks fine,go to the Material folder and load a texture and everything loads but the white band appears ......
Cho I can't even figure out where the trans map should be applied for that area ........I am boggled.The MATs are applying to the Geoshell but NOT to the Tail .And it is doing this with both A&B load all ,yep I just went back and double checked ,so it's not just when the MAT files are applied ........
So am I the only one having theses issues......??
This set uses a Geometry Shell to blend skin and tail - it does look as if the materials are being applied to the tail and not the shell, or are missing the transparency that is meant to handle the blending. I don't (yet) have the set so i can't try it out, but make sure you are selecting the right part (probably either the base figure, if it uses a hierarchical materials preset, or the shell itself).

And the final one this is looking at the suface tab, the geometry cutoff on the tail is all set to 0
Those aren't the 3delight materials - or at least, the Surfaces pane is showing the iray uber shader applied.
Yep that's a thing I noticed tooo, but this is just the Load All A on the Luguna mertail ,I haven't put any of the MATs on it ,this is just the way it first loads .
Ummmm I just double checked and the materials in the 3Delight folder are loading IRay ......that's shouldn't be right ,and the IRay folder is the same ........
I have this set and I'm seeing the same issue. It's not just 3DL mats, either. Same thing happens with an Iray mat. Both mats are hierarchical so I applied them to the figure. I've tried with both the G3F base and V7. Same result. I also noticed that 3DL mats apply only to the geometry shell, not to the tail or bra. They stay Iray.
If the Iray Mats are being applied and the shader is supposed to be 3DL, the transparency map probably won't be applied, because the 3 'standard' 3DL shaders won't understand it.
Oh !! thank god it's not just me!!!! Oopps sorry I should not be overjoyed somebody else is having the same problem .......but I can't help it ......

Select the tail and apply the G3F character skin that you used on G3 to it.
Okay that worked to remove the white band ,thank you very much Fisty ,but the 3DL MATs are still saying IRay shader ........ and is there somewhere that I should have read this and obviously didn't ....
Okay shoot me now cause I just saw the "All Tails Info " now I know to look closer ........
Same here. I saw the "All Tails Info", but I didn't know what it meant. And yes, the 3DL mats still aren't applying, they're staying Iray.
Okay, I'll poke Esha, I just made the tail geograft, she did all the texturing and mats.

Glad you sorted out the tail / skin thing. Sorry for the confusion; how could I have worded it to make it clearer that you need to apply the skin texture to the tail?
About the Iray/3DL mats: It seems there was a technical issue with the hierarchical mats. I saved them out again and now they work fine. I've sent the fixed mat files to DAZ, they'll check them again to make sure they really work correctly now, and then you should see the update in the download manager shortly.
Sorry for the fuss, thank you for your patience, and I hope you'll enjoy the set despite the initial trouble :)

Yaayyyaa ,hey these things happen,and honestly not as often as they could(it's gremlins you know) and while it was frustrating I planned to enjoy this set if I had to color it in with crayons ........but it will be so much nicer with your MAT files working right.I think the tecnical issue is why I still use 3DL ....I've got it somewhat figured out ......on the other hand iray ....not a bit .....
Oh and the wording was fine once I saw the info thingy ....it was getting me to see the info thingy ......neon lights ,ummm blinking ,flashing ,hammer to the forehead .......not sure how to make it more noticeable

I have to say I am quite pleased and impressed with the response from vendors when there is an issue. Its really nice to see that. There are always going to be issues, I think its just the nature of the beast, and it just really nice to see people responding so quickly. Quite refreshing!
Honestly.. with all the negativity about, well, just about everything we do it's hard to visit the forums. A lot of PAs have just given up 'cause it crushes your creativity to spend 3 - 5 weeks working on a project and then have it torn to pieces for no legitimate reasons, (real legitimate reasons like this thread are another story, but we see this type of thing much less) especially when sales figures tell us that it was a successful product and the lips are waggin and spewing venom just for the sake of wagging it seems. I have very little creativity naturally anyway and I'm a gamer girl with a skin thicker than a basilisk so I lurk here and poke the appropriate people when it's a legitimate issue and not just another "but I want her ears a cm longer" *fuss, moan, etc*, to use a relatively tame example.
do you select the tail in the scene tab AND in the surfaces tab? Trying to apply the Indigo Mermaid base mat to the tail but the bit around the waist stays the same.
Select the tail in the scene tab (not the geo-shell) and apply the same base skin mat to it that you applied to Genesis 3.
I know it's a little convoluded, the other options were a lumpy top of the tail from having to closely follow the area around the top of the thighs, a frumpy looking scally part that came up above her navel, an obvious gap in the geometry where the join is, or a tail that only ever worked with one character and we wanted it to look nice and work on all characters so we did it that way. Spent about 2 weeks (no joke) trying to figure out every possible way to make it more user friendly but there wasn't any without sacrificing the quality of the end result.
AHA! Thank you! I was selecting the geo shell LOL. Works perfectly now. :D
