Can Anyone Recommend a Good Mousepad?
The mousepad I was using for the PC I use with Daz was worn out. It developed a crack near the bottom edge, and the mouse kept catching on it as I moved it around. I remembered that a PC I bought a couple years ago came with a gaming mousepad I had never used, so I swapped them out and threw away the old mousepad.
This gaming mousepad is made from super cool materials that are supposed to allow for the fastest responsiveness while gaming... according to the packaging. Now my mouse is too responsive. When I click on the limbs of models in Daz to select them, the mouse is still moving, so instead of selecting the item it drags the limb instead.
I opened the mouse settings and slowed down the mouse speed to the point that it is almost annoyingly slow for all other applications, but it is still click-dragging in Daz unless I very carefully slow down to a snail-paced crawl before I click... which really impacts my work flow. So, apparently, I am going to need to get a different type of mousepad.
Can anyone offer recommendations for a mousepad? What surface material seems to work best for you? Any feedback would be appreciated!

I use a Bluefinger mousepad; I got it with my Redradgon keyboard & Mouse set.
I have a SteelSeries gaming pad its just the flat black without anything fancy but I wanted one that was large to cover a larger work surface.
I have used a trackball mouse for the last 18 years, so have never needed a mousepad since the only thing that moves is my thumb.
I have this one

It's big. Covers a large part of my desk's top.
edit: also the mouse I use has a button just behind the scroll wheel that allows to adjust the cursor speed. It has 4 settings, and doesn't need any software. So it can be adjusted "on the fly". Love it.

I also use SteelSeries QcK Heavy 6mm Thick Gaming Mouse Pad Large (450x400mm)
I just have one of those desk-length wool felt table mats/mouse pads from amazon/aliexpress etc.
Works fine & is cheap. And it doesn't look aesthetically unpleasing, like many so-called good mousepads.
...I go between the two, trackball for 2 & 3D graphics work, standard mouse for other tasks.
We use larger format corsair and redragon pads 18"x18" and 18 x 24. They're not overly pricey and have a good underpad to remain in position even with intense gaming movement.
I also have a trackball, that gets pulled out whenever my wrist starts acting up from repetitive stress use, at least a couple times a year. But its difficult for gaming and challenging for any kind of precision work. My thumb is all thumbs.
Thank you everyone for all of the great suggestions!
I was sort of surprised that mousepads are still a thing. :)
I don't think I have used one since the days of the rollerball mouse; optical mouse makes it sort of obsolete.
I have a glass coffee table and use my laptop connected to my tv and wireless Optical mouse connected to the computer. I have to use the arm of my chair to get around.
If you have a glass table top desk, a pad helps, shiny white surface desk, the mouse pad helps. Solid black melamine, mousepad helps.
Wood grain desk, the optical mouse will do just fine on its own.
I have one of these, and aside from looking great I've had zero issues with the quality: https://mousemods.com/products/sakura
This is me too. Since my hands don't function fully, I use an older model of the Kensington Expert Mouse Wired Trackball for accessibility reasons, but it's really been a great optical trackball (the first model I owned was a mechanical version without the scroll wheel.). It's more expensive than a mouse pad but would last for years (mine has anyway). It works great as a plug and play mouse, but their software has a lot more options for customizing the way it works. They also make a lot of other styles of trackballs. Since I haven't used a mouse pad in so long, I can't offer much advice with that. I remember those spongy ones with the felt tops seemed to work well whenever I have had to clumsily use a regular mouse.
That's a nice, clean setup you have there.
that was just a picture from aliexpress.
my setup looks much nicer...
i haven't used one in years. no problems.
