?? Basics of camera positioning locking etc ??

Is there a simple method to lock a camera?  Failing that, is there a tutorial on loading a scene with multiple cameras, each with its position locked, or saved, or similar?  I keep inadvertantly moving my cameras.

In parameters you can lock the camera, same as anything in the scene.

Thank you.  So I have to lock each parameter channel individually?  (which I just did and it works, thanks again).  Is there a single lock button to toggle on and off?  I am not finding a channel called lock.

You can CTRL click more parameters and lock/unluck them at once.

Curious as to why you would need to lock a camera. I have never had a reason to, so was curious

Inadvertantly move a camera.  For example, consider a scene with three camera angles I want to use for different purposes (a distant establishment shot, a closeup, and tracking).  I create the cameras, name them, and position them.  I then use the perspective camera to navigate.  Occasionally, I want to adjust a camera position, or see what the scene looks like from that angle.  So, I select that camera and look through it.  Something distracts me.  I forget I still have that camera selected and am looking through it, not the perspective camera.  I navigate like it is the perspective camera.  Boom, I am frustrated.

In Carrara, one can easily save a camera position separately from the camera.  Less need to lock.  I am confident one can do the same in Daz Studio, or an equally convenient solution, I just don't know how.

There is (or used to be) the option to lock all parameters of an object in one go from the drop-down on the "hamburger" options menu in the parameters tab.

I guess I am used to making sure I am in perspective instead of camera since I have never moved the camera. I would think you could always undo the action if you move a camera

The lock everything option is still there under the corner menu.

Sounds like saving a pose preset for the camera is what you want to do. On another note, being able to lock individual transforms of a camera is a feature I use constantly.

I do tons of adjusting, adding props, etc. So I set the camera where I want it. But as I go back and forth sometimes I forget I'm at camera view and not perspective and end up moving the camera. Or I have to go back to a file, make some changes an re-render from the exact same camera angle. Accidentaly moving it would majorly screw everything up.

Such a matter also happened to me a lot as there're always multiple cameras in my scenes and I'm always distracted, so... Memorize / Store... Lock / Unlock... always pressing Ctrl + P when my bottom's back to the seat....so on and so forth.

But one day, a product saved me from this and other issues, and brought me to a brand new world - https://www.daz3d.com/camera-magic Maybe you wanna take a look...

I found this thread very helpful!  Thanks for starting it @Diomede! I don't do this often, but sometimes I screw up the zoom with my mouse wheel on accident, and undo doesn't work so it's cool to know I can lock in the settings when I'm fine tuning the shaders on the image. :)

@Shimrian - glad it was helpful.  Without more robust documentation (or even less robust documentation), I find myself relying on the forums for basic information.  Thanks again to the people who shared there time to offer various solutions.
