Simple enough question [- Is it possible to properly fix genesis 9 clothing to a genesis 8 character?]. Can it be done without it going on the g8 character in an unintended way.

I have put G9 clothing on G8 with autofit and it worked. YMMV.
Simple way -: Auto-fit with clones + Importing 'pJCMs' from G9's clothing...
Precise way -: Bones mapping + Transfer Rigging + Manual fixing...
MMX Genesis 9 Clones for All
This is something that DAZ should provide as part of the default content along with the base figures, poses and whatever else is part of the usual package when a new generation is released. I see talk of backward compatibility but it is usually limited or non-functional. I am not invested in G9 characters at all but I would buy G9 clothing if it would auto-fit my G8 characters.
This works well, or as well as auto-fit can be expected to work.
While I agree that Studio should have more back- (and forward-!) compatibility tools built in, I third the recommendation for the Mattymanx G9 clones. They are stupid easy to use--they install as extra choices right in the autofit dialog--and they work quite well.
Have to play with Mattymanx G9 clones. Just saw some great new G9 Medieval clothes, but still work with G8 characters. Some vendors provided clothes for G8/8.1/9 in the beginning, but this seems to be over.
Reviving an old thread, but is this possible to avoid the distortions on the clothing when using MMX Genesis 9 Clones for All ? Especially for AJC Dawn Warrior Outfit for G9, the buckle of the belt and the round thing on middle part are getting stretched on my G8F.
I've also brought this up before. I'd love to be able to keep buying G9 clothes (and hairs) to use on my G8 figures, because I don't like the G9 character at all. But reverse compatibility is spotty at best, even with tools. So that's just more easy decisions not to buy things that I otherwise would pick up.
